Thousands of traditionally clad people are bringing flowers to be placed on this wooden statue of Mary as well as on the wall of and surrounding the entrance of the Cathedral. At the parades and other festivities during the week of Las Fallas the Spanish people seem very gracious about being photographed.
Albufera
by Cool-123
Located 11 km south of the city of Valencia, the Albufera lagoon is separated from the Mediterranean by a series of sand dunes and pine forsts. This freshwater lagoon was formed aeons ago by river sedimentation which eventually formed a barrier at sea and trapped a huge body of water inland. Boat rides are offered on the Albufera guided by old-time fishermen who know the area well.
How to get there:
I joined the bus tour which included the boat ride. (Tel: 96 341 4400)
Other places to go out by night.
by LuigiMS about Different zones in the city.
Valencia has many bars and clubs all through the city, and there are specific zones with a great concentration of them, such as El Carmen (it's commented separatedly). It's for people from 25 to unlimited years.
Other places to go out by night with many bars and clubs are the street "Juan Llorens" and around for people from 20 to 30 years, the "avenida de Aragón" and around for people from 25 to 35, Av.Blasco Ibáñez, when it passes through "plaza de Honduras", for 17 to 25 y.o., the surroundings of "calle Menéndez y Pelayo" and "calle Ramón Gordillo", for university students, and the surroundings of "plaza del Cedro" for alternative and young people who don't like dance music.
Other less important locations: "plaza Xúquer" and around (it's decaying and for very youngsters), las Arenas (just in summer, and the city mayor has ordered to close the best places on it). El Carmen is the better zone where people wear what they want.
Zones with very young people are the opposite. It's typical there shaved head and just earrings.
