Good Central location 3* hotel

This hotel was booked through Venere.com.

A 3* hotel that was in a very good location.
About 5 mins from the train station, 10 mins by taxi from airport.

Near Plaza del Ayuntamiento, The Cathedral etc.

We paid 79 euros each for 2 nights twin room (no breakfast) - (2007)

- There is a nice bakers shop across from the hotel with sweet and savoury pastries, plus many cafes nearby that serve breakfasts. (see my restaurants tips)

Reception staff friendly/efficient- They recommended a restaurant for us, and booked it- (Restaurante du Ana)

The hotel was completely renovated in 2000.

81 rooms.
2 x lifts (Elevators)
Bar/cafeteria
Breakfast room-we didn't have breakfast here, but I think that it's buffet style.

No smoking in public areas- some rooms are none smoking.(Guess this might have changed now to No Smoking through-out)

Appeared to be popular with tour groups.(But this didn't cause us a problem)

We were very satisfied - pleasant hotel in handy location, with a small bar/ lounge which was a good place for us all 8 of us to meet up and enjoy a coffee / beer before going out for the day /night.

Unique Quality: My room was quite spacious (507) and overlooked the street below.

Twin beds, wardrobe space, satelite tv, mini bar (good selection of spirits, beer, water, juices, olives, crisps, nuts), air con, safety deposit box.

Roomy bathroom with power shower over the bath, WC, bidet, heater, marble topped basin, hairdryer. Good towels.

Freebies- soap, shower gel, shower cap, nail file, sewing kit, shoe polisher, sponge.

Would certainly stay here again!!

A bonus? was being a prime spot for hearing La Crida - The start of Fallas!!

- We could see the crowd marching by, throwing down the firecrackers, then the rockets going off, as the explosions reached their climax. Watching the windows in the buildings opposite shaking was quite an experience-especially as at the time we didn't know what was happening!

Flight East Midlands to Valencia

by suvanki

We flew to Valencia with Ryanair for about £89 each including taxes and checking in 1 bag. Prices vary-You can get better prices than this when there are offers on.

Flew out Friday at 09.25 arrived Valencia at 12.55
Returned Sunday 13.20 arriving back to torrential down pour at EMA at about 14.55.

So this gave us quite a bit of time to explore, and get a taster of Valencia.

Airport to our hotel (Catalonia Excelsior in the centre) took about 10 minutes in a taxi. It is about 8km from the airport to city centre. (The cost is approx. 14 euros)
Taxi Rank is outside Departures Area.

Apparently, there is now a Metro connection - Line 5-3.
Metro Valencia

One of our party got the bus, then did a 5 min walk from the bus station.
Aero - Bus - Daily service runs 0800 - 2300hrs, every 20 minutes. Approx 2.50 euros
Stops at - Airport Departures Terminal,
-Av. del Cid/ Burgos Street (Local Police HQ),
-Bailen (G.V.Ramon y Cajal tunnel)
-Angel Guimera/ Juan Llorens Street
- Ave del Cid (in front of Police HQ
-Airport.

Sunday morning we had plenty of time to go out for a leisurely breakfast and pack, before setting off to the airport.

The airport had plenty of shops, cafes etc to keep us occupied while we waited for our flight home.

Re: Hostel Valencia

Hi, I stayed in a nice central Hotel in Valencia 2 years ago- The Catalonia Excelsior, which I booked through www.venere.com -I go to this site first when I'm looking for accommodation- prices of hotels/B&B's etc are listed in price order. I also use www.hostelbookers.com, Hostelz and booking.com. (which you might find more useful for looking for hostels, though sometimes you can find a hotel at a bargain price)
Please feel free to contact me for more information on Valencia, and check out mine and other VTers pages for tips on Valencia.
Have A Great trip, and I look forward to reading all about it.
Best Wishes,
Sue

Hi,
I stayed last summer at the Purple Nest Hostel. Funky colours, big common area, towels and lockers for free, awesome common area with bar and a nice terrace to chill out.
Very helpfull staff, answer all the questions, they know the best places to eat, do shopping and relax.
Is very close to the Turia's garden and to the barrio del Carmen.
I would stay there again.
