Very nice and cosy place. Just like the tag line describes, just like at home, you can cook and watch tv/dvd at the common area. You'll get to mingle with others especially in the toilet when everybody gets up in the morning to take a shower and do their thing. Haha. Very nice and helpful staff.
Unique Quality: The hostel is located just behind the La Lonja, the silk warehouse, which is also a UNESCO Heritage site. It is also located not far from the train station. Just a ten minutes walk.
Directions: Just walk straight up from the train station towards Plaza Ayuntamiento, where the fountain is. Walk further up and where the road splits, take the left road, Avenida Maria Cristina. The hostel is just behind the La Lonja.
Even though it was a bit of a nightmare to find as there are so many side streets in Valencia my stay was pleasant. The hostel is very funky with some interesting art work! There's a great lounge area to meet fellow travellers and a seperate tv/video room with hundreds of vidoes to choose from. There's a share kitchen which was spacious and clean....as were the bathrooms. The only down side i can think of was the decor in the dorms was a bit dingy and you constantly had to have the lights on.
Reasonably good accomodation can be found at likeathome.net.
The pluses are the hostel (literally) couldn't be more central, its reasonably clean and the staff are pretty friendly.
The minuses are its noisy at night and a bit expensive for Las Fallas. Plus some American geezer was just after finding a cockroach in kitchen as we were checking in!!!
Directions: Next to the Mercado Centrale
we stayed for the first time in a hostel.
it was cheap but the room was dusty and there was no fresh air.
the toilets were clean (shared facilities)
when we arrived they had to clean the room.
we could leave our luggage that is a good point.it is open 24 hours a day.
we booked it on another side and paid 16 euro each so 32 euros for 2 beds in a private room. the hostel lays in a central area. but there are a lot of homeless people in the area.
Directions: near the mercado central and la lonja church
The hostel it's just 10 min. walking from bus and train stations in the centre of the old part of Valencia, few steps from the central market and 'la lonja'.
It's perfect for free travelers who want to find a comfortable, colorful and clean place.
It's next to wherever you want to go.......it's easy even going back in the night after a good night :D
It has the kitchen where you can ready your meals and an internet connection.
It's not only a hostel..is a whole house where you can feel as at home! it has a great lounge in the real centre of the house where you can sit on sofas and chat aaall night!!!
Unique Quality: From the train station go to Plaza Ayuntamiento(the fountain that is in its centre has to be on your right hand side) until you get to Citibank. Take Avenida Maria Cristina from where you'll see a building that looks like a castle, go in that way. As you're in Av. Mª Cristina, you'll see the Central Market (El Mercado Central) on your left. Keep walking until you see some steps on your right hand side. Cross the steps (the building on your left is called La Lonja) and look to the left. We are right behind La Lonja.Bus n° 8 at the bus station, get off at Plaza de la Reina-Calle Correjeria until it split into two. At the end of the road you'll see a big sign saying Antiguedades. Turn left and follow the road until a square (Plaza Dr. Collado). On the left you'll see Cafe Lisbao and Bar El Kiosko. The hostel is in front of you.
The place is just great...colorfull...with really nice people..you feel like being at home!!! nice staff (even if the best one left..)..good location!!!
Unique Quality: Kitchen, sitting-room, TV-room, internet
Directions: next to Plaza del Mercado
