Especially if you're travelling with kids - or you're childhood is catching up with you for a day :"))) - it can be good fun going to Port Aventura for a day or so ... there is also a Water Fun park for extremely hot days ...
Port Aventura isn't in Valencia, but it is quite close ... Going north from Valencia, take the Salou exit and you'll find it is very well indicated.
Origins

The first records of Valencia date back to the Roman empire, when it was known as Valentia.
This excavations on the back of the cathedral show some remains of the Roman past of the city. Although works are still being carried out, visitors are allowed, if this is your kind of thing.
Special Section

The largest monuments (excluding the Falla of the Town Hall) compete in the special section, the first category of the competition. These include:
- the Falla Na Jordana, located in a narrow lane in the old city, close to the river.
- The Falla Plaça de la Mercè is always spectacular, because the square where it is located is so small that the monument oversizes it. When it iburns, the surrounding buildings have to be protected in order not to be damaged.
- The Falla Plaça del Pilar
- The Falla Sueca - Lliterat Azorín is located at the intersection of these two streets of the Russafa neighborhood, one of the city areas where the Falles are lived with more intensity.
- The Falla Convent Jersusalem - Matemàtic Marzal.

Valencia is more than just a city - it is a state or territory. It is like a giant garden filled with oranges, lemons, grapefruits, figs, olives, tomatoes, onions, peppers - It is really a delicious place!
Illuminated Valencia
by suvanki
Walking around Valencia at night gives a different view of the city. Many of its attractions are illuminated.
We were pleased to discover an old park with old gnarled trees that looked quite mysterious in the night light. They probably wouldn't have looked as impressive in the daytime. I've since found out that this was the Jardin del Parterre on Plazza Alfonso el Magnanimo. The statue in my pic is Jaime 1 who liberated Valencia from the Moors.
Many of the fountains are illuminated at night too
