Car parking

by northeast80

Hello all,
We have, perhaps, chosen the worst time to try to park in Valencia-Grand Prix week. However, we arrive on Thursday 21st Aug and are there for four nights.
Can anyone suggest an out-of-the-way parking place?
We are staying in the centre but don't mind having to catch a bus to where we are parked.
Many thanks

Hi,
i think you dont have to worry. the F1 circuit is at the harbour area, not that close to the city center. Usually there's plenty of space to park here in august, even in the city center, because most locals are having their holidays away. True that there'll be more tourists on that week than usual, but I dont think they're all driving a car (rather coming by plane, etc). So i cant imagine it'll be that bad. I think you'll be able to park your car in the street. You can try in the streets between the train station and the building of Hacienda or Fnac (you'll spot them easily), not so many pay-and-display areas and your car will be safe there.
If you're attending the F1 races then there're parking areas that've been set especifically for the event. they're around the circuit and depending on your entrance gate you can choose parking in the one that suits you best.
Another thing is that you can ask your hotel whether they have parking facilities. being that you're staying in the center it is likely that they have something.
hope this helps :)

another place where you can try to park is 'pont de fusta'. thats an area around a tram stop and there're parking spots on both sides of the tram tracks that're free. if you've seen on a map where the 'serrano towers' are then you'll find the place easily. you just need to cross the old river bed to the other side and turn left after the 2nd traffic light. have a look here:
http://www.valencia-on-line.com/mapavalencia.pdf
name 1 are serrano towers, pont the fusta is in almazora street. you'll cross the bridge, will pass number 17 and then turn left in the next street (pintor vilar), you'll find almazora street at the end of pintor vilar.

im not sure if you know about this but just to make sure:
- you cant park in places with yellow lines
- places with blue lines are pay-and-display areas (max is 2 hours which costs 1,30 euros, minimun is 15 or 20 cents and i that's 15-20 mins)
- places with white lines: parking there is allowed and it's for free. you have to look for these ones.

Fantastic! Thanks very much Jezzabel. I'll definitely print this out when I get to work tomorrow to keep handy once we get there.
I can't wait for some sun :-)

Travel Tips for Valencia

Visit the 'Llotja de la Seda'...

by Laura19

Visit the 'Llotja de la Seda' (silk marquet), built in the fifteen century. When I am away from Valencia I miss Festivals of 'Las Fallas', they are in March,( a week) and the central day is the 19 of March when the gigantic plasterboard sculptures or float are burned in the 'cremà'. Also the bands of music and the fires.

9th of October

by TheView

October 9 is a special day in Valencia. Its that day where the Moors was rejected from the city in 1238. The city of Valencia celebrates the event by dressing up as Moorish knights and belly dancers parading true the inner city. At midnight it all ends in a climax with a grand firework display.

Street lighting competition

by DanielF

The falles is a round the clock festival: gazillions of people crowd the streets and attend music concerts, cultural activities, watch the falles or eat and drink on the streets - paella, obviously, but also the seasonal buñuelos (fried doughnut-like sweets made of pumpkin).

The different falles of the city also compete in the street lighting category. The Falla Sueca - Lliterat Azorín (depcted here) is known for the Baroquism of its luminary creations every year.

Valencia, great place for Nighlife and parties

by Edu_G about General

Valencia is a city with many areas for partying. No matter what music do you like (disco, rock, salsa, heavy, punk, jazz, funky) you will find your disco or club!
Here is a little summary:
- Barrio del Carmen, in the city center this is probably the best place for clubs in the city. There are lots of clubs (from the cheap grungies to the expensive stylish), bars, pubs and some discos.
- Plaza del Cedro, close to Blasco Ibañez and Manuel Candela streets. Many clubs and discos.
-The beach, there were some discos before.Right now there's Akuarela disco and some other clubs and discos. Best choose for summer!
-Plaza Honduras: some clubs and discos as well.
-Plaza Suquer (Xuquer), close to Blasco Ibañez. Clubs and bars and a few discos.
- Avenida de Aragón, from Mestalla Stadium in the way to the river.Clubs and bars.
-Canovas: in the end of Gran Via Marques del Turia with the river. Lots of clubs as well.Mostly for teenagers and some clubs for people around 40.I don't like it that much, but maybe you will.
- Juan Llorens, close to Abastos Market.A little bit stylish and expensive.

Of course you have the macro-discos outside the city (some open on Friday and close on Monday, non-stop).
I will write a little more about every place later. Anyway if you have any question you can ask me.
