4-Star Luxury at a Reasonable Price

by RScottE1 about Tryp Oceanic

Located across the street from the City of Arts and Sciences, a 15-minute walk to the America's Cup Port and right next to lots and lots of fine shopping, including the department store that has seemingly everything - El Corte Inglese - you can't go wrong at the Tryp Oceanic. The rooms are beautifully designed and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We were out partying every night and missed the complimentary breakfast every morning, but our travel companions said breakfast was great.

Hotel Please?

by Fullmoonfever

Hola,

Which hotel would you recommend thats in the center of the city? Do I really want in the center of the city? I would like to walk to most stuff if possible.

Where should I stay and which hotel would you recommend?

Thank you,

Glen

Hi! I stayed at the Catalonia Excelsior Feb 2007. It is a 3* hotel, within walking distance of most of Valencias sights. 5 mins walk from the train station.

We booked through Venere.com and paid £79 each for 2 nights. Breakfast was extra - but there are plenty of cheap places to eat breakfast nearby.

See my Valencia page! We loved our hotel for its location and cleanleness.
It was one block from the main atractions allowing us to hop in and out all day if we needed to change, use the bathroom or take a nap.
I also know for a fact that it is cheaper of you just show up instead of making reservations. If this hotel is booked they will tell you where to go to find a room.
That's what we did. We arrived, parked the car on underground parking lot under city center and got out, visited one hotel and were sent to our hotel few blocks down the street.

Travel Tips for Valencia

Languages in Valence

by DanielF

Valencian, a variety of Catalan, is the official language along with Spanish in the Valencian Community. For many years considered as a peasants' language, it is hardly spoken in the city of Valence and remains confined to more rural areas.

The linguistic issue continues to be somewhat controversial in Valence. Some efforts have been done in the last decades in order to normalise the use of Valencian, but Valence is still far from being a truly bilingual city.

Cruz del Sur

by djferros

This place is NOT in the center and tucked away down many side streets.
I couldn't believe how big a non central bar/cafe could be and it must be the only place in valencia to serve Fosters....on TAP! (OK, i know you Ozzie's will be thinking..."and what?")

Huge beer selected. I just can't believe it's not central.

Mercado Colon

by Maggies about Mercado Colon

It's close to Colon street and it's also an entrance to El Corte Ingles. And if you get hungry while shopping you can sit in one of few restaurants in Mercado Colon, it's very nice and gives you shadow - quite needed by many people during summer in Valencia.

City transport

by LanaFromRiga

There is metro in Valencia, also trams and busses. Busses number 1, 22 and 15 will take you from the centre to beaches.
Atention: busses going only till 22.30. Don't forget it, because later you will catch only taxy.
