Hotel Opera Madrid: awful

by dirkapers

we spent 12 nights in Hotel Opera in Madrid.
paid on beforehand so we couldn't escape anymore.
such a bad experience never again we hope.
rooms are very unpractical, small and dusty.
no hooks, no drawers, no proper place to put away your stuff.
only dwarfs and children can use the toilet properly because in the place they give
you to relax you get stuck all the time and you hurt yourself trying to clean
the other end of your body.
forget about oxygen because you will be obliged to sleep with the windows closed
against the noise and the smell but the heat - without the airco - in this small room
was unbearable. so we left Madrid with sinusitis, laryngitis and bronchitis caused
by the sometimes also smelly airco.
the hotel is extremely noisy. all kinds of noises both from the inside as from the outside.
forget about sleeping. 3 different large recycling containers in front of the hotel
are emptied on 3 different moments every 2 nights again ! and all rooms are
situated at that same street side. walls apparantly are very thin because
every night again we could enjoy the really disgusting throat and nose noises
from the other hotel patients in rooms near to ours.
lucky we were we didn't smell the farts we heard.
cooking and sewer smell are always around in the corridors like in some obscure
3rd world hotel in some disadvantaged neighbourhood.
the breakfast room is small and dark and without any windows to the outside.
only some lucky moments we could have our breakfast without the traffic and sewer smells.
and when you like your tea with lukewarm water this is the place to be !
don't count on the pictures of this hotel. they are misleading and deceptive.
this hotel is overrated and overpriced in all respects.
they probably had to bribe some big shot to get the stars they claim.
it is a real rip-off.

Lope de Vega: Highly Recommended Hotel

by ElizS712

A great, central hotel very close to the Prado and Retiro park. Tremendously helpful staff who go out of their way to help. We loved the place and plan to return.

The hotel has a boutique feel, our room was spacious and the bathroom was a large size by European standards. Our room had an oversized patio which was a bonus.

Ibis Hotel: My Choice

by Drops_of_Jupiter

Everytime I stay is like a home away from home. The service is good. Just have one problem, you have to find a restaurant nearby.

Petit Palace Mayor Plaza: Plaza Mayor jewel

by Ceashells

We discovered this hotel when we were sight seeing on the cobblestone streets to the Plaza Mayor. I looked up and saw the balconies and thought it would be lovely to just watch the people below from there. So I booked two nights on our last leg of our Madrid stay. I was not disappointed. The Petit Palace Mayor is a boutique hotel located at calle Mayor 46, one of the entrances to the Plaza Mayor, just a few steps from the Puerta del Sol, near the major museums and tourist sights.
Many Tapas bars and cafes in the area and a wonderful candy/cookie store right out the front door and several paces away. I will definitely stay again.

Very modern and wonderful bathroom, balconies, very quiet at night, free wi fi and free laptop in each room.
Double doors to the elevators ( nice to have) and free coffee and juice in the lobby. I felt safe in the comings and goings because the front door is locked at all times. You must be buzzed in by the staff, which is there 24 hours a day.

Auditorium Hotel: Auditorium Hotel

The place is immaculate, its very confortable and close to the airport too... i loved their buffet and the service was very good..

Hotel Cuzco, Madrid: Four star Hotel

by nixca316

I don't think Hotel Cuzco is the best hotel in the world, but the rooms are clean and the facilities are good. I would definitely recommend it to others.

It is situated at the commercial center, next to the Stadium Santiago Bernabeu, Departments and Courts. It has 330 rooms with air conditioning, Satellite TV, minibar, work table, heating, thread musical, safe, magnetic lock, hairdryer, radio, etcetera, etcetera.

229,23 € (room only)-2 adults

270,9 € (breakfast included)-2 adults

High Tech Madrid Aeropuerto: High Tech and High Style

by AnneAlex

As soon as you walk in you can noticably feel the high tech atmosphere. There's a minimalist design in the Feng Shui fashion with several internet computers waiting to connect you to the rest of the world. The room is equipped with a stationary bike, personal computer with free internet connection, mini-bar, pants press, TV, and the bathroom is something to admire. The shower is a full body massage with a seat and finally- a real hair dryer and higher wattage outlet!! This is definitely one of the coolest places to stay if you're requiring accomodations near the airport. It is no where near downtown, but the free shuttle to the airport quickly gets you to the Metro as well which is a very convenient way to get around Madrid.

** After making a return trip to this hotel, I realized that our original room was an upgraded room. Regular rooms do not have the computer or exercise equipment in the room.

Free internet with in-room computer.
Full body massage shower.
Towel warmer.
Free shuttle to and from airport.
Bathrobe and slippers included.
High wattage outlets.
In room exercise equipment.
In room pants press.
Mini bar in room.
Hard wood flooring.
Close to the airport & metro.

Apartamentos Tribunal: Cheap, clean, well communicated

by magictravelers

If you look at it from the outside, you may never "discover" it. It has about 5 or 6 floors of apartments with bathroom, kitchen, sofa with cofee table. We were on the 1º floor (RM 123), our room was not as new as our friends on RM 212 (they had parket and more lights), but we had a confortable double bed, no outside noise and our kitchen had a door to separate it from the bedroom area. . It was as big as my apartment in Downtown Chicago, but we paid 25 euros per person (50 foe the two of us). It is 2 minutes away from Tribunal Metro Station and 15 min walk to Puerta del Sol. We were very surprised and satisfied with this hotel (apartment)

TV, hairdryer, kitchen with pots and pans and a continental breakfast every morning (Nescafe and muffins), it also has a fridge and a stove. clean, nice staff, close to the Metro and "downtown", mostly quiet (except for a room on the 5th floor above the bar and rest.)
