Parroquia De Santa Monica

by jpendon

Hello,

I was baptized in Parroquia De Santa Monica in Madrid over 20 years ago. I need a current copy of my Baptismal Certificate to get married here, in Canada. I've tried calling the parish, with no luck. Maybe I don't have the correct phone number.

I don't have any friends or relatives that live in the area, anymore.

Does anyone know what I can do? Besides going Spain :)

Thanks!

You may contact by phone with the parish from 8h30m to 13h Spanish time ( Only in Spanish ) .
Probably you will have an additional problem and is that the Baptismal Certificate must be taken to the Ovispado ( Bishop House ? ) for stamping
Speak with them and if you have additional problems let me know

Suerte!!!!!

I asked in the Ovispado ( Bishop house??? )in Santander and they told me that the best solution is that your parish in Canda , contact by mail with the Santa Monica Parish in Madrid and that they will solve it in the best and cheapest way
If you have any translation problem , please let me know

Travel Tips for Madrid

Accomodation - On a Budget

by mollymoo0oo0

Contact el turismo - the Tourist Office (Head Office is in Plaza de Mayor, near Sol Metro. Another good point of contact is the one recently opened in Plaza de Colón... which is actually underground. Go to the corner of the square nearest to Colón Metro, on Paseo de Castellana (away from Serrano Metro). There are stairs leading down to this peaceful but friendly and well-resourced information point.

Here you can ask for a booklet listing many of the hotels in Madrid (it's more of a book!) and another listing most of the hostals/pensions. The directories include price and contact information, and list the facilities available in each.

There are one or 2 hostals which start at 15€ per night for a single room, which is a great price for a budget option.

A friend of mine stayed in a place in the heart of Conde Duque/Malasaña (bohemian/nightlife zone) for 18€ including free wifi. Turned up on the day (high season) and had no problems getting a room.

Address: Calle La Palma, 61. The street has many other hostals too, and is a great starting point for those arriving with backpack/without plan!

Ir de tapeo, ir de tapas, tapear...

by Redang

All the expressions have the same meaning: To have Tapas. Yes, something so typical in Madrid (or in Spain in general).

I can't say a place or area, anywhere in Madrid have many bars where you can enjoy them. Apart from the touristy districts: Plaza Mayor and surrounding area, La Latina, Puerta del Sol, Huertas street, Plaza de Santa Ana..., the other ones, less, let's say, "famous", have excellent bars. And not to mention that a "caña" (beer) or glass of wine (unless you don't drink alcohol, although there are beers without it), are a part of the traditional tapas.

The link shows a list of bars that offer good tapas.

For some recipes, go to Restaurants Tips section.

Shopping

by fairy_dust

There are lots of places to shop in Madrid. Along with the usual souvenir shops, there are a lot of clothing stores, and if you're lucky, there might be a big sale on. Also, I once found a store where they sold fans and parasols/umbrellas, and bought a painted fan for my collection. That store had all sorts of beautiful hand-painted fans and I wish I could have bought the whole store!

Spain Shopping/ Fashion

by xstacey about Fashion

I have no shop to list other than Zara. I would just recommend not making the mistake that i did and not shope when you can - i was concerned with space in my luggage and figured i would do all of my shopping in Paris. Bad idea. I should have done more shopping in Spain. This trip has me rethinking my entire wardrobe! Clothing, shoes, anything you can't get in the states. It's worth it!

Plaza de Santa Ana & Huertas

by Carmela71 about Trendy areas

Around this square, close to Plaza del sol, you can find many coffe pubs, restaurants, and places to dance till alte.

I do not know why, but for a long time, when ever my friends took me for a night out, we always finished here, but I have to say I had great nights around.
