Madrid Marathon (España/Spain)
Question: If one takes 8:00 Socibus from Cordoba which reaches Madrid at 12:45, is it possible to make it for Madrid Airport to take 16:00 onwards easyjet flight? How punctual are these buses? What are the transportation options from Socibus Station and Madrid Airport?
Thanks in advance
AVE (High velocity train) takes 1h50' from Cordoba to Madrid. You can check the AVE schedule at www.renfe.es
It is more expensive than the bus, but better than missing your flight in case there is a delay or the train/metro connections are a bit slow. I saw some postings about the transport to the airport a few days ago, check the Madrid forum.

Spain is a great country to visit if you're into the 'tourist thing.'
Most people speak English very well, so it's not necessary to speak Spanish, but I highly recommend learning some before you go. I don't mean the bare basics, but enough to get around Madrid and to make yourself understood.
It's not necessary, however, to be a perfect linguist, because if you attempt the locals will respect you...
Toledo is the old capital city of Spain and is about 1 hours drive from Madrid.
The main interest in Toledo is the architecture which is heavily arab influenced and the city is entered by an impressive gate - Puerta de bisagra. The city is very beautiful (similar to Durham in England) and is an interesting and pleasant place to visit.
The main square of Toledo (plaza de zocodover) provides shops and somewhere to get a coffee and in past times was the venue for burning witches.
Toledo has many churches and a impressive cathedral. There is a entrance fee to the cathedral though alternatively if you enter via the chapel instead it is free of charge. There are also two synagogues worth a visit and San Juan de los Reyes church with it's gothic spires is very interesting.
The view from Pasea del transito is also worth a look - the river curves around the outskirts of the town and the old bridge can be seen from here.
Dating back over 100 years, El Rastro is Spain's most famous flea market. Every Sunday and on holidays, booths set up along Calle Ribera de Curtidores (directly south of Plaza Mayor, branching from Calle de Toledo) and sell anything and everything, from inexpensive clothes and shoes, to second hand items, to CDs and DVDs. More interestingly, there are many antique shops and centres in the permanent shops along Calle Ribera de Curtidores, especially at the southern end of the street. Best time to go is early in the morning before the market gets too crowded.
I am not sure if locals like this place.. but it was the first pub that we got into or rather manage to get into coz it was a public holiday but the music was really great.. Friendly crowd as well. Smart casual
