Now the down side. All you are really paying for here is the location. The hotel itself, or at least during my visit in 1994, was not very good. The walls are thin, hence there is lots of noise, especially from the elevator. The plumbing was so so and there was not even a television in my room. This last point I understand has changed. When your jetlagged as I was you would rather stay in than wander around the Puenta de Sol in a daze. For what I got, everything was overpriced by a mile. At the time of my visit it cost me about $75.00CDN to stay here. Even then it was the most overpriced hotel I had stayed in Europe. Today it would set you back about 100 Euros to stay here if you are a couple.
The hotel is located half a block south of the Puenta de Sol which like the centre of Madrid if not Spain. The staff was fairly friendly. There are lots of good restaurants and bars nearby.
