More about Carlton
Great location
by TripAdvisor Member milofly
We stayed at Carlton Hotel for four nights in April 2006. We had two rooms, a double and a larger double room with an extra bed. The rooms were really great and very, very clean. The beds were perfect. We also had a small table with two armchairs. The breakfast buffet were above average with a nice variety of food and fruit. The location of the hotel is perfect if you want to visit the Reina Sofia museeum and Prado and even the old part of Madrid is at a walking distance from the hotel.
Great hotel

The Hotel Carlton was in a perfect position for exploring Madrid. The staff were extremely helpful, the room was a very good size and included a trouser press and the bathroomwas huge with 2 sinks! The cleanliness of the room was excellent and we were spoilt for choice with the buffet breakfast. Our room was extremely quiet and I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Staff awfull

We stay 5 nights in Madrid in this hotel for holidays.
The room were ok, not clean very well each day...
The staff was awfull! If u need to ask something, don t speak to the manager who is a foolish octopussy, never answering to our request (have a late check out).
breakfast was not extraordinary, with not a fresh orange juice and the rest was not top food.
The hotel is near atocha, then well situated to visit the city but i am sure that it is posible to find better in this city

Two adults with an 8 year old boy. Great Hotel very clean and a great price for a family room. We were very suprised of the quality of this hotel when thinking of the price. The breakfast was great all kind of food hot or warm.Traveled many places but this hotel "CAN BREAKFAST". I will stay again when I travel to Madrid.
A well placed hotel for visiting Madrid
by TripAdvisor Member Fryer
I have just come back from a 4 night stay at this hotel. The hotel is well placed for visiting the highlights of Madrid and while there is some traffic noise at night it is probably quieter than some. We had dinner at the hotel which was very good and the breakfast buffet is excellent. The rooms were of a reasonable size and well maintained. My only criticism is that the staff could have been more helpful e.g when we asked at the desk for a good recommendation for somewhere to eat they told us that there were "plenty of places". This is true but it would have helped to have had a steer. Madrid is a lovely city with a lot of variety and a relaxed cafe culture.
not child friendly!!!!!!!!!!!!
by TripAdvisor Member de_livio
the hotel itself is very nice and SOME of the staff were really nice. SOME!i would recommend this hotel to people who are not taking young children as it is not suitable for kids under 3. The rooms are really nice but they dont have any tea/coffee facilities so you have to order them everytime. the buffet breakfast was very nice but it was but it was VERY expensive! The rooms are very noisy due to it being on a very busy main road and the reception staff are not very helpful especially when they saw my wife stuggling down the entrance stairs with the cases!but the cleaners were ok!

we stayed at the carlton for two nights, was very impressed. the staff were lovely and helpfull, the rooms were spotless, really clean. we stayed on the second floor and we hardly heard the traffic from the road.take the metro from the airport to the hotel, its 1euro and the nearest metro stop to the hotel is the yellow line ,palos de la frontera come out and do a left and thats the main road the hotel is on , its a 100 mtrs up on the left. alot of the reveiws said its right nr attotcha, we never even went there. take the tube everywhere its so easy, and only a few stops from the main sol area. we booked it through alpha rooms £125 for 2 nights. i highly recommend staying here rather than staying right in the centre, its too crowded and you will pay over the odds for a hotel.dont get a taxi from airport they will charge you 30 euro. we will be going back again, great city and great hotel
Loved It.

Stayed with my partner for five nights, our first time In madrid and we couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. Staff were very helpful, polite and seemed genuinely happy. Having visited most of the Spanish Costas in the past I was suprised at just how tourist friendly the staff and the city in general were.
The rooms were spacious and cleaned daily, found the hotel reception and lobby very welcoming and helpful.
Not a lot on site, one small well stocked bar and an eating area, however within a ten minute walk you have the train station, from which you can get just about anywhere in or out of the city. (We spent a day at Warner Brothers Movie World.)
From a value for money perspective really can't complain at all.
Great Hotel.

We stayed in this hotel over Xmas (24th-28th Dec), it was a good hotel with very friendly staff. We had a spacious room on the 3rd floor with no traffic noise, as we faced a side street. The room was very clean and the bathroom was spotless. Breakfast was included in our stay and it was really good, it set us up for the day. Hotel was close to the station and park, but you needed to walk a while to get into town, saying this we managed to walk everywhere without using the metro. Not much in the surrounding area of the hotel, but the area was obviously being upgraded. We liked Madrid, the Prada museum and the Palace were wonderful, it was nice to sit in the park in the afternoon and relax, we found there was plenty going on over the Xmas period in Madrid.
