What to wear in April

by fachd

My wife and I travelling to Spain in April. She's confused as to what to pack for clothes. All reports seems to vary. Has anyone travelled at this time? Suggestions please help.

Reports vary because the weather varies. One year's experience is not necessarily useful for the next. Prepare for all variations you heard of, bring clothes that can be combined and worn in layers. An umbrella, a jacket and shoes that survive a bit of rain. And bring, or buy there, a travel-size tube of washing detergent.

It is true that it may vary a lot...but I think it is going to be warm. We have had a very cold winter, but it is over.

Maybe some rains, but not cold weather. So I would skip coats and "clothes for cold weather".

April is a great month to visit Madrid(and the rest of spain). Spring all over the country. I am sure you are going to enjoy a lot!

Have fun.

I spent 3 weeks in Madrid last April and some days were fairly cool, so I was really glad I had brought a waterproof spring jacket with me. Other days were really warm and sunny though, so as mentioned before, layers are the best way to go. Hope you enjoy your time in Madrid, it's a fantastic city!

Dont listen to what a previous poster replied to "What's in style for spring 2009", who said "No boots at that time..."
Rubbish!
They were ALL wearing them!!

Mostly flats/low heels but, if your wife is ok in heels, she'll be fine.
The centre of Madrid is paved, not cobbled.

I was there last week, and the temperature was in the twenties.
I was in shirt-sleeves all day and all night, but the locals were in coats and, like I said, big boots!

Travel Tips for Madrid

Lovely houses...

by Veroali

We loved walking around the city. I totally adore the houses with balconies and different types of windows. It looks so fresh and sunny. Probably because i am from Czech and we dont have such type of house here, i feel the south atmosphere from these houses.

You can drink the tap water, if you like the taste

by traceyspacey

The tap water in Madrid is safe to drink and if you ask for water at a bar, this is what you get. Not everybody that we know in Madrid, drinks it as it tastes of Chlorine. We drank it and we thought it was fine.

For movie-addicts

by Gaby_G

I am an obcessive movie watcher... I love going to the movies and cant spend a week without it... Then I found KINEPOLIS... It´s a HUGE complex (Guinness Record winner) with 25 big screen rooms (around 750 people each, 9,200 total)... Also there are some good restaurants around it, and it gets crazy on weekends...

MUESTRARIOS/ OUTLETS

by parsix

This can be a warning or danger for those humans that have a limited patience (me for example).
This is a place where most shops will come to buy merchandise. You can find good leather quality shoes at very resonable prices.
There is a long street with shops one after the other. Enjoy.

Villa Rosa

In my first meeting in Madrid, we finished here. It is in Santa Ana Street, and we had a great time, as you can see at the photos lol

I have to say that I had never been again, but never say never

Nice place for dance
