Weather in Madrid this weekend?

by svetik2000

Hello

I'm arriving in Madrid this Saturday and having checked the weather forecast was quite surprised to find it's going to be +20C.

My question is this: is it +20C as in 'wear short-sleeves and sandals' or more like 'chilly except when the sun comes out for a few hours'+20C?

I wasn't going to pack any light summer clothes until the forecast, but now I'm wondering if it's really worth taking t-shirts and sandals alongside jackets and sweaters.

Thanks! (and sorry about such a shallow silly question ;)

Haha, not a silly question!

I'm going to be in Madrid this weekend to and the weather looks gorgeous! yay!

Here you have the official forecast:
http://www.aemet.es/en/eltiempo/prediccion/localidades/madrid-28001

But note only the max. temp are 20C for Saturday, min will be 9C. A bit lower temps on the next days. This means warm at midday but quite cool at night (or at the shadow). We will have to wear in layers!

A t-shirt may be ok at midday. Sandals at this time will be definitely out of place.

Travel Tips for Madrid

Look Homeward, Angel

by latmedia

Having lived in Madrid from '77-'78, I had to make my pilgrimage yet again. I was there in 2000, but I had the opportunity to go a few weeks ago, on my way back from Mallorca, so I did.

I found the city more provincial than Barcelona, but lovely just the same. I walked the streets of my old haunts and found much changed and much the same. There is a level of sophistication in Madrid that really didnt exist in the 70's, but is quite evident know. The Serrano district is very much like the Upper East Side of NYC and Chueca is now known as the gay friendly area of the city. Nevertheless, I still find the architecture and ambience of the city beautiful and it truly was like going back home for a while. Just smelling Agua Brava, Ducados and hearing motos.

MADRID DE LOS AUSTRIAS

This part of Madrid is very beautiful to visit during day-light, because of the buildings: from Royal Palace to Puerta de Toledo you can take a walk of about 20 minutes and afterwords you can take Toledo Street which takes you again to the heart of the city.
The picture was taken at Debod Temple and you can see Royal Palace and Almudena's Cathedral, just behind me.

Corrida (bull fight)
This might be Spain’s most famous and also most intensely discussed tradition. I don’t want to go in deep about the pro and cons of the bull fight. It is definetly something you shouldn’t miss when you are in Madrid and not to weak-hearted.
