Another chance for Madrid

by 4louie

While I had to cancel Madrid 2009 and had a most unfortunate experience with the travel agency "Cheap Tickets' I will be going their in July hopefully and am considering to take Air Europa airlines because they were so helpful when I was going through my problems with Cheap Tickets. My question is if I am intending to truly see Madrid and some of the surrounding cities (Segovia, Toledo, Escorial etc.) would it be realistic to stay for 7 days which includes the day of landing following the overnight flight itself. Or would it be wise to stay at least another day? I know my responses might be varied but I want opinons and suggestions in order to make this trip truly unforgettable.

It really depends on how much of the city you want to see, and how many daytrips you want to do. Of course better 8 days (or more) than 7 :)

Madrid will keep you busy for at least 3 days

Re: Another chance for Madrid

Hi! There are several possible day-trip options from Madrid (Segovia, Toledo, San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Aranjuez, Alcala de Henarez, Chinchon...), and as Belsaita mentioned, Madrid will keep you busy for at least 3 days, probably more if you're interested in art museums. If it's possible for you to add more days to your itinerary I would recommend doing so - I was in Madrid for 3 weeks and trust me, I did not get bored!

We had 2 days in Madrid, definately not enough. I would think 5 days would be a minimum. The Palace will take a half day, Prado Museum 3 hours minimum. There is so much to see and do, your time will flash by.

Toledo is very nice, a day trip at least.

Take your full 7 days.

Madrid Hamam

by ger4444

At the hamam Mayrit, the Madrid Turkish bath, you find yourself getting relaxed after a whole day walking through the city. The baths have an atmosphere of soft candle lights, aroma’s and calming music. There are two baths warm and warmer, and a steambath. You can drink sweet tea from the taps and sit town. There is also an ice cold tup to calm down. The costs are 23 euro for one and a half hour, the hours are from 10 till 24 The hamam has also a tearoom, a restaurant and a shop.

Atletico Madrid

by kop-queen

Atletico are very much the poor relations to Real Madrid but their fans made us feel vey welcome. A week prevuious the powers that be at UEFA had pronounced the game should be played 200 miles away but thankfully common sense prevailed and the decision was delayed.

Quinta de los Molinos

Yet another little known charming park in Madrid ;-) This one has the particularity of being quite near from my office, so as soon as the Sun spreads its rays over Madrid, the temptation of changing the business meetings for a sandwich in the park is almost irresistible. I took this picture some weeks ago, when we actually enjoyed springtime weather in the middle of the Madrilian winter. The almonds were flourishing, the atmosphere was fragrant, the sky was of an impossible blue... pretty much romantic, you know ;-)

The Kapital of nightclubs in the Capital of Spain

by Redliner about Kapital

Kapital nightclub on Calle Atocha is probably the largest nightclub in Madrid. As a matter of fact, it's one of the largest clubs I've been to period. There's about 7 levels and a huge dance floor below. There's a variety of DJ's spinning various club music genres.

The cover charge includes one drink. You have to purchase tickets to buy drinks there, which is annoying. The people watching is good and there's plenty of intimate areas to sit back and watch if you're not participating on the dance floor. No sneakers and you must wear pants...No shorts.
