Look Homeward, Angel by latmedia
Having lived in Madrid from '77-'78, I had to make my pilgrimage yet again. I was there in 2000, but I had the opportunity to go a few weeks ago, on my way back from Mallorca, so I did. I found the city more provincial than Barcelona, but lovely just the same. I walked the streets of my old haunts and found much changed and much the same. There is a level of sophistication in Madrid that really didnt exist in the 70's, but is quite evident know. The Serrano district is very much like the Upper East Side of NYC and Chueca is now known as the gay friendly area of the city. Nevertheless, I still find the architecture and ambience of the city beautiful and it truly was like going back home for a while.Just smelling Agua Brava, Ducados and hearing motos.
