The owner of Hostal Cervantes assured we would have a room for the third night of our trip, after we returned from Toledo, but when we got back all the rooms were taken. So he took us across the road to Hostal Armesto, where there were available rooms.
This worked out pretty well as our room had proper air-conditioning and the cost was the same. The guy running the hostel was very friendly but he had only as much English as we had Spanish so it was difficult to communicate sometimes. We met a couple from Chile also staying in the hotel who were over from South America for a trip. I'd have loved to talk them about Chile as we are planning to go there next year but our Spanish still isn't good enough.
The hostel is in a good location, near the Prado museum, and only a short walk from all the bars and restaurants around Plaza Santa Ana.
