Must visit Madrid.
When I was there in 1992, Madrid had more bars per capita than any other city in Europe.(dont know how accurate that is......but I tend to believe it)
Madrid has much to offer!
Check out the Pardo(museo de arte), take in a Flamenco performance, visit the plaza de toros and watch a bull fight(if you can stomach it), dine al fresco in one of the many restaurants/cafes. Eat tapas until the wee hours of the night and be sure to get a pitcher or two of the sangria!

When you try a new activity watch for as long as you can before you join in. Be a quick study and pick up on what you should and should not do. In Madrid, you should be prepared to check your bags at the museums. In wine bars, tables are sometime reserved for those eating. At restaurants some areas are reserved for "tapas" and other for "La Cena" (a full meal). Try to find out before you go or indicate what you whant we you arrive. I good place with both and a good dose of atmosphere is Las Cuevas de Luis Candelas, in Old Madrid off Plaza Mayor. The "oldest bar in Madrid" is a great bar and full service restaurant. See photot below. It is open all nights and closes between 12:30 and 1am, and accepts AMEX.
Valle de Los Caidos
by solopes
About one hour north of Madrid a high cross in the mountains of Guadarrama signs the location of this fascist monument to the death of civil war, in a place called Valle de los Caidos. Why not? We must keep good and bad memories.
Go and have a look. And don't forget, ten kilometers distant Escorial is another kind of religious monument.
My favorite souvenirs shop
by Quartzy about Sol Souvenirs
My mother and I wandered all around Madrid and saw postcards were 0,30 euros pretty much everywhere - except at Sol Souvenirs, where they were 0,15 euros each. So for cheap postcards, this is the place!
I am the dancing queen!!!
by Gaby_G about Palacio Gaviria
Back in XVIII century It use to be a little palace ... Now it is a nightclub... You can dance salsa, pop or electronic in the same night going from a room to another... It gets really loaded especially the latin room where you'll hear the latest latin hits... If you get to make friends with the DJ, maybe youll get some free passes for the next time ;)
If you dont, try to find some discount passes outside the club, there are often people who give them....
Wednesday are foreigners nights :) get your sticker and know some other "aliens"
