Accomadation in Madrid

by De_Chippie

Hi Folks,

Heading to Madrid from the 21th to the 26th of March. My girlfriend and I are looking for an apparthotel (the appartments that are contected to hotels) in the city centre. Does anyone have any suggestions???

Thanks for your help.

Try this - www.atprincipe11.com
Its a small appartment hotel very close to Sol and about 5 minutes walk to the metro station there. Very spacious room with everything you need supplied.

Travel Tips for Madrid

I've raved a lot about Madrid....

by Pegasus74

I've raved a lot about Madrid. Didn't I? Well let me step back a bit. I don't mean this is somewhere not fun to be in. I meant there are so much to do that I had missed out some fun. While I was writing this, I thought I might have forgotten to mention some other attractions that had caught my eyes as well. But what's more important is I've seen the Real Madrid, full of life and energy. And I encourage you to experience that as well in this lovely part of the world.

Fiestas de San Isidro

by ger4444

San Isidro is the patron saint of Madrid. one week long around the 15 th of may there is dance music, such as chotis, and bands play in the Jardines de las Vistillas. Its the most important fiesta in Madrid during the year.

Sorolla Museum

by mindcrime

Painter Sorolla used to live at this building that now houses the museum with his collection. It was great to visit the museum. First of all, the gardens outside are amazing (pic 1), great for some relaxing moments. Inside you can see some great paintings (most of them based on water themes but in general a peaceful feeling comes to me). There are many different thematic periods thoughts and his style changed a lot. He is famous for the impressionist landscapes. Some of the rooms are just like they used to be when Sorolla lived here.

There is a second small part of the museum with several items he had in his collection from travels etc.
The museum is closed on Mondays. The other days 9:30-15:00. The entrance fee is only 2.40euro, free on sundays

Address: paseo del General Martínez Campos, 37

if you take the metro stop at Ruben Dario or Gregorio Maranon

Portraits

by jamiesno about Portraits

Here in the Plaza Mayor there was lots of art but after having a second look at this one I don't know if I recommend getting a self portrait done.

What do you think of this version of Sean Connery??

wonderful ambience

by zumodemango about ACUARELA cafe

It's a cafe open from 11 am til late night. They have teas from different parts of the world. The cakes are also very good!
It's a small cafe to seat in the leophard sofa or in the small tables. It's good to chat adn relax.
