Location, location, location!!!

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on July 10, 2012

I wanted something budget friendly and centrally located and Hostal Comercial fit the bill perfectly. Located just a few minutes away from Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor, Hostal Comercial was a modest little place that offered an immaculately clean room, great customer service, and free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. The only drawback, which is a superficial one is that it's interior is decorated with little Roman statues and the like. Kinda tacky, but really unimportant. My stay of four nights in a single room cost 112.00 Euros, economical considering the fantastic location.

From Barajas Airport, take the yellow Airport Express bus into the city center. Get off at Plaza de Cibeles (pronounced Thibeles). From the stop, head west on Calle de Alcala. That's left of the fork because the right will lead you on Gran Via. Stay on Alcala street until you hit Puerta del Sol. Pass the Bear and Strawberry monument until you get to the other side of the square. To your left is McDonalds. That's Esparteros Street where the hostal is located at the top of the hill on the right side. The walk from Cibeles to the hostal is approximately 20-30 minutes depending on how heavy your load is.

Unique Quality: Location was exceptional. You could walk to every attraction and landmark in the city!!!

Directions: Adjacent from Puerta del Sol up the street where the McDonalds is located.

Well, this is the hostel where I stayed when I arrive, it´s clean, kind of cheap and the owners are really nice people that will give you advice about Madrid does and donts...

You better do a reservation first because usually is full.

Directions: In Puerta del Sol, the street with the McDonalds and the Burger King, keep walking upward and you will find it (if you dont, there are a lot of hostels in that street)

Best location!

The location of the hostal is perfect. It is literally 1 minute away from Plaza Mayor and 3 minutes from Puerta del Sol! The rooms are warm and neat. There are about 11 rooms in the hostal. A double with a bath costs 35 euros per night. There are restaurants nearby and El Cortes Ingles is about 5 minutes away.

Directions: From Metro Sol, go up Calle Mayor. Once you see McDonald's on the first left, turn and go past that and then Burger King. Continue up the street and you will see the hostal :)
