Centrally Located

" Hostal Lopes " is a small guest house run by a Spanish family. It is a XIX century building situated in the heart of historic Madrid, and just a block away from the famous El Prado Museum. The rooms are small but very clean and have all the necessary facilities like airconditioning and central heating. Prices are affordable and are only 57 euros for a triple room ( double bed + one single ) with bathroom. In the vicinity one can find plenty of bars, restaurants and night clubs ideal for day and night entertainment.

Nice rooms, excellent location.

I've been staying there about ten days during XMas holidays. When you arrive, it does'nt seems too nice, but the scenario changes when you get inside your room.
We had a triple room with space for five person, with a/c and a very clean toilette.
The family managing the hostel is very friendly.

Unique Quality: The location for this place is smashing ( expecially if you are in Madrid for nightlife ).
It is situated in Calle Huertas: a pedestrian area with plenty of pubs, restaurants and bars. Puerta del Sol is ten minutes far walking. It is also close to rail station ( 5 min ) and Prado Museum ( 5 min ).

Perfect location, but could use a refurbishing ;-)

Hostal is one of the many hostales in Madrid. A hostal in Madrid is not the same as a youth hostel, it is a pension or guesthouse. Madrid has hundreds of affordable hostales and we picked ours from the website madridman.com. It's a cute hostal, nothing special but comfortable enought to spend a couple of nights. The furniture is very outdated and the walls are quite thin. The location however is perfect. Right in the center of the Sol area and near museums such as Prado and Reina Sofia.

Hostal Lopez

A very central little hostal (pension) in Huertas Street, 54. Close (5 min. walking) to Prado, Thyssen, Plaza Mayor... Old little hotel in a very crowded area at night. Lots of bars around.

Hostal Lopez

6400 pts per night for a triple. That's roughly US$13 per person.

Unique Quality: If you've looked up Madrid on the internet at all, you've come across Scott, aka MadridMan. His personal recommendation is Hostal Lopez, and it's a good one. For a reasonable price, you get a nice enough room with AC, private bath, and GREAT location in the middle of Huertas, Madrid's early-to-mid-nightlife district, just minutes from Atocha station, Sol, and the Prado.
