Great Location

Good (3.0 of 5.0 stars)

This Nice hostal is located right in the centre of Madrid, between Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor.
The rooms are basic, but modern with flatscreen tv and aircon.
My room was facing a courtyard and therefor did not get any outside noise, but walls inside the hotel are thin and you have to hope for quiet neighbours in this case.
The bathroom attached was a bit small though and early in the morning it took quite a while for the water to get warm.

It is a typhical Hostal, in an old and romantic building . you are free to come and go out as they give you keys. they have hairdryer, telephone, wifi, safe, telephone and lift in the building. Also a coffee machine in the reception. Speak a good level of english.the rooms are clean and comfortable, with private bathrooms which looks recently renewed. I stayed there 4 nights, and I have to say I slept well, with no noise ( good point as it is right in the centre, between Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor).

Unique Quality: You are right in Puerta del sol and Plaza Mayor. It is a mid-range Hostal as they have a lot of services like hairdryer, television, telephone, wifi, lift coffee machine and soft drink machine etc etc. they run also apartments in the same building. I've seen one and it was very nice, with a nice terrace in an high floor.

Directions: Puerta del Sol

Hi,
I dont' know if anyone told you about where to stay:
I stayed in a pretty nice Hostal, which is right in the centre http://hostal-madrid.info, look it on google Map! it is right in Plaza Mayor, few steps from Plaza Santa Ana. And if you plan to stay several days they have several apartments.
Of course the hostal is not a 5 stars Hotel, but this one can be compared with a lot of 3 stars: private bathroom, hairdryer, safe, wifi etc. but less expencive.

P.S. I wouldn't choose Gran via, as it is far from this area, which is the core of Madrid!

cheers

Unique Quality: super central, clean, friendly staff.they have lift.
