Luggage storage in the airport

by thegirlwhoisme

I have been traveling elsewhere and I am passing through Madrid. I want to travel around Spain for 4 days, but I will have a lot of stuff with me. I would like to store 2 large suitcases (maybe even another medium sized one too, though I'll try to fit it all in!). Is there a place in the Madrid airport to do that, and if so, where is it? And most importantly, how much does it cost? Also, are there are any other, cheaper places to store the luggage in Madrid, such as the train or bus station? Those places would be less convenient, but I may be passing through them too, and I'm traveling on a budget.... Thanks.

The airport and train station in Spain store luggage for a maximum of 48 to 72 hours since the bomb attack in Madrid.
I have stored my luggage in Madrid center, close to Sol in the flat, for 3 weeks and it worked perfectly well.

Daniela- I am not doubting you but I did read that there is some CONSIGNA at Barajas. Its on this link. Do you think that it is still open? Maybe worth asking AENA directly or Iberia?

Your are right, there is a storage/locker area, but they are limited in time and won't allow more than 72 hours. At least that was what I found when looking to deposit my luggage for 3 weeks.

Daniela- On the Barajas web link they give the prices and more information. And they say that it appears you can store up to 15 days before the luggage is taken to the warehouse. Or at least I think that's what they mean. perhaps the only way to find out for sure is to ask the airport at the phone numbers they provide.? The security quaestion is of course relevent and if the Consigna does not have 'state of the art' scanning machines I cannot see how they can accept luggae. Just like when you store your bag on the aircraft.

Travel Tips for Madrid

Make sure you try the fine Iberica or Bellota ham (jamon) that they carve off the bone for you in the bars. It's pricey, but really worth it. If you think you don't like ham, you will find out you've just been eating the wrong stuff.

El Rastro Flea Market!

by Zlur

This open air flea market is probably the longest-standing one in Madrid, and can be found at Ribera de Curtidores and it's surrounding streets. All items sold here have real bargain prices and also antiques at stalls and auction rooms... You can visit this market on Sunday mornings!

Shopping around in Puerta del Sol!

by Zlur about Shopping Areas

There are many shops around Puerta del Sol, mainly popular fashion houses and loads of THE most famous department store to be found all over Spain - El Corte Ingles... Clothes for all ages can be found here, from the best designer brands to cheap street wear! Excellent value for money! Anthing... from clothes to souvenirs to a yummy takeout sandwich if you're in a hurry!

Santa Sangria

by Lorro about Espana Cani

To begin your night, If you want to go to a well known Madrid bar that foreigners AND Spanish people go, try Espana Cani. (The name means something like the worst of Spain, haha) They serve cheap sangria by the picher and if you go really early they have tapas. I?ve heard they have a good Salmorejo. The music is sort of Spanish pop. Its in Huertas so there are lots of other bars around to continue to afterwards. Its small and can get crowded but its a good place to meet people. And the feeling is very Spanish. No dress code, but people who go out in Huertas don't wear sneakers (unless they are foreign) because later you may want to get into some bars and clubs that don?t allow them.
