How far is hotel Augmar from Madrid airport. Is the Madrid City Hop-on Hop-off Tour is worth to see the places when I have 8 hours in Madrid,

Re: Madrid visit

by Redang

For the hotel, about 45 minutes by metro, line 1 (see the map):

Regarding the bus, I'm not very fond of this kind of buses, yes, you can see the city, but i think it's very expensive and i prefer a visit on my own walking, walking and walking

Madrid visit

Hi Vinay,

For the time that you have in Madrid, yes I would take a tour on the hop on off bus tour. It will give you an idea of many interesting sights of this wonderful city, which you otherwise could not get. In your extra time do try to get around the centre of the city like Plaza mayor, which is a jewel of architecture and will give you a taste of Spanish culture. Try to taste some Spanish tapas in the mesones in the basement of this plaza. A meson is a typical Spanish tavern. You can select on the type based on your culinary choices. Have a nice time n your short staying Madrid.
Best regards. Mahesh

Travel Tips for Madrid

End of the day

by Lalique

We came to Cibeles Square, it was late, a few tourists and Madridians randomly stralling around.... I was really fascinated by the sight of lighted square and fountain, a combination of monumentalism and lightness, blowing wind was splashing water sheets into little sparkling diamonds....

Late at night we returned back to my hotel, Cruz district.... I dreamt about calm night in vain, the night pulse of the city was right at the hotel door.... oh, well, Madrid, you never sleep indeed!

Cool off by the water fountains

by scottishvisitor

Sit back and drink in the atmosphere, enjoy the sunshine & cooling effects of the water fountains. The statues & water fountains stand in a gracious setting with formal gardens & sparkling water. You can escape the Spanish sun & enjoy some peaceful reflections of your Madrid visit.

S/he who visits MADRID should have a day off and travel to TOLEDO.

It is situated on a granite hill above the river TAGUS and is the Capital of Toledo Province.

This city is famou from Moorish times for SWORDS, and STEEL, TEXTILE manufacturing.

It is the seat of the Spanish Primate . In 1085 it was conquored by CASTILE, the capital of Spain until 1561.

There is a wonderful 13th Century Cathedral, it was home to the famous PAINTER El GRECO (El Greco's Studio can also be visited).
Many churches have works painted by this great Artist.

El Corte Inglés

by andal13 about Department Stores

If you do not go to "El Corte Inglés", you did not go to Madrid: these department stores are situated at different places, and there you can find everything.

Si no vas a "El Corte Inglés", no vas a Madrid: estas tiendas de departamentos están en varias partes, y en ellas puedes encontrar de todo.
