Hi
I would like to know what`s the gambling scene like in Madrid? is it legal? if yes, is it popular? what kind of slot machines it there? (other than vending machines)
Cheers
J
thanks, I was thinking is something like "traga-pelas".
Most of the bars in Spain do have a slot machine. I am not an expert, but I have heard that there are some combinations that can give you a big prize...(600 euros?) but the maximum they show is 240 euros.
If you are looking for bigger prizes, then you must go to a casino.
Good luck!
By the way...they call it "traga-perras"...because...money disapears!! (pelas, and perras are slang-ancient words- for money here).

I was told by many locals in Madrid that it was not customary to tip your waiters, and that they are not expected. The Spainish that much pride in what they do and waiters are professionals. They are paid a wage that allows them to live well, and they are not expected to make tips. There will not expect a tip even if they do a good job, it is what they are expected to do to get paid. They will not "get mad" if you do leave a tip because they will know you are a tourist, but they do not expect it. So show the waiters some respect and don't tip them, they don't need it. Take the money you would use to tip and use it on street performers, people that really expects small sums of money. And there are street performers in the more touristy areas of Madrid. So there will be no way to avoid them. Stay and watch for a minute or two throw them some change.
It is not a good idea to go biking inside Madrid. There are nearly no bike paths along the streets. You can hire bikes near the Attocha railroad station at Karocel Sport (calle de Tortosa 8, 915399633) and you can get your bike at the train to get to the surroundings of Madrid where you can have a bike tour in the countryside. Sport Natura (Avenida Donastiarra 4, 914036161) hires bikes too and organise transportation to Sierra Pobre where you have nice bike trails. you can hire the bikes.
Take a side trip and drive to the lovely Valley of the Fallen - a trip worth taking! Noticed the awesome looking Cross (see pic below) located high above the hills? Well, the body of the late Spanish dictator, General Franco is buried just beneath it..
Berlin Cabaret is one of the most established nightlife spots in Madrid nights. Going there is being ensured that you spend a nice night.
This place closes late (at 4 AM), so after 2, most people going out in La Latina district end there.
There are shows, usually of drag queens, but not always. The shows are nice and contribute to make the Berlin Cabaret so special. They begin at 1, and there is a show every hour. You can have a look at their website to know about the shows. Better don't wear short trousers, jeans or sneakers.
