I'm so surprised to see all the bad comments: I spent 5 days last summer in that hostel and found it clean, quite cheap and the building itself is lovely. The people at the desk were nice and helpful. The breakfast is really OK, and they leave all the extra food in the common kitchen after 11. The terrace is just heaven to relax: there's a view on the rooves of the city at sunset (or sunrise, well...). The common room is large, comfy and cool when it's really hot out. Also it's pretty easy to find and the area is also nice and convenient. I would definitely go back there...
Unique Quality: The terrace and the view from there; for those who are addicted to it, there's even a small room with machines to cycle, run...
Close to the huge market El Rastro
Directions: Lavapies/ Huertas district
Bed linen were dirty (with hair) and I got biten around 15 times overnight (limbs, back, belly, feet), according to the pharmacist those were flea bites. Yuck !! You can imagine my panic, I left the place as quickly I could to flee the fleas and had to clean all my stuff .
I shall add that a week later those spots have still not disappeared completely.
