AEROCITY SHUTTLE SERVICE

by lifesaver888

I've read alot of opinions about this airport transportation from Barajas airport to the city center and vice-versa and would like to try it in the near future from and early AM to the airport. However,in Go Madrid'd webpage where one could find information about Aerocity, there's an important note which says that once you are at the airport you should call their 24 hour office number( granting you made an online reservation).I'm a bit worried about this because I might not be able to contact the number from my mobile phone and it might take some time to look for a local phone at the airport. So has anyone booked this shuttle and how was it? If i have no online reservation, can I just go to their booth at the airport and buy a ticket right on the spot? Any idea/s?
Thanks so much!

As of 5 November 2010 (yesterday), there is a bus called Exprés Aeropuerto linking the city centre and the airport running 24 hours.

- From 6 am to 11,30 pm, from Atocha station to the airport
- From 11,30 pm to 6,00 am, from Cibeles.

The first one, also stop at Cibeles.

I hope it helps.

Raestar - you can just turn up at Aerocity desk and ask.
The new Airport bus is excellent if you stay or travel from Atocha station down to Seville etc.
There is also a good Metro into the city from the airport.
So it depends on where you finally want to reach really.

Travel Tips for Madrid

Atocha Train Station

by fgfi

This is Madrid´s main train station and it is a very original one. I's like a botanical garden complete with ferns, palm trees, and other temperate zone plants. It´s a beautiful, yet humid place and there are lots of turtles all around.

Madrid buildings

by Carmela71

This building in on the way from Puerta del sol to Plaza Mayor.

I love the paintings on the facades, make it very special. I founded quite a few buildings like this walking around the Austrias area.

Semana Santa (Holy Week)

by Redang

This is another big tradition throughout Spain. Some events take place during the week such as concerts, but the most traditional are the processions. The most famous are in Andalucía, but the ones in Madrid are becoming very important.

PATONES

by Chus69

As you can see, if you take yourself out Madrid a few kilometres, you will discovered some charming places like this: a little village in the mountains with all the houses made of blackboard stone. It's the only place in Spain where we maintain our own King during French intrusion on 1808, due to the narrow entrance to the valley, hidden in the mountains.

The Malasania quarter

by Danalia about Fashion

The Malasania is another quarter in Madrid which is also known for its trendsetting unconventional panorama and located around the Plaza Dos De Mayo.
I think it is a must while in Spain, don't miss the colorful quarter, this quarter is full of bars and clubs during night time, but at day time it has great stores to shop at.
