Reasonable Hotel w/ Good Breakfast
by corazoncito75 about El Mayorazgo
This Hotel was well situated just off the busy Gran Via and was close to several subway entrances. If you are looking for a posh, upscale model of Spanish architecture, this is not it. However, if you desire a clean, well-situated and comfortable place to lay your head after visiting the Prado or taking in a football match at the Vicente Calderon, this is the place for you. Not only was the staff friendly and helpful but they spoke other languages fluently. On several occasions staff provided excellent directions on how to get to certain points of interest and where to go to have a good paella. For those that like to start the day with a solid meal, the Mayorazgo also has a buffet style breakfast with ham, eggs, fruit cereal, juice, chocolate, etc. For my fellow travelers and I this was one of the selling points and was an added value overall. For all its modesty El Mayorazgo was a pleasant place to stay. I will surely stay there again when I return to Madrid. Breakfast, excellent location, helpful staff, comfort

Soon I`ll be in Madrid and I was recommended to stay in Hotel Mayozago. Im not sure if it is that good because even though it is a 4star hotel the price is pretty low. If anybody has visited or knows anything about the hotel please inform me if I should stay there or change to another more know hotel such as Crowne Plaza? Hows the location in Hotel Mayazago? I believe the location is Flor Baja. Please help with any info.
My Many Thanks
Nadz =)

I don't think of it as a 4 star,tired! and the location is ....! The Crowne Plaza is better,especially if you can get a view of the Royal Palace.However,there is construction right now around the Plaza de España.I personally don't like to be this far down it's at the end of the Gran Via (lmovie theaters,noisy,and at the bottom of the hill ).You are away from the old part of Madrid. I prefer the Intur Palacio San Martin-more of a 4 star hotel -it's a renovated old palace-opened about 3 years ago -big roomsand a much better location overlooking the nice plaza de San Martin and next to the convent ot Descalzas.It's only about a five minute walk to the Plaza Mayor or the Puerta del Sol.
Good luck

Hi Nadz!
I have not been in the hotel, but i'know the area in which it's situated and i don't think it's a bad area I'm living in madrid now and if you want I can give you information on the city and on the best zones and about thing to do and places to see here. The hotel Mayorazgo is near Plaza de España and Gran Via, in the zone of thetheaters and cinemas and less than 10 minutes walking from Puerta of the Sol (the heart of Madrid). The Crown Plaza is siutated in the same zone. Let me know whicj kind of area of the city you prefer? If you want to be in the historical center in Madrid you can find an hotel better situated, but anyway the zona of Plaza de España that' s good and to move in Madrid is very easy by metro (it's sure and you can arrive in any part of the city in few minutes) and taxi (taxi is veriy cheap!).
I leave yo my email of you want more information: leonardorossi@hotmail.com
