We took this hotel with Hotwire.com. For $109 they called it a 5 star hotel....I am not sure I would agree with this.......then I came to find out that if you booked this hotel directly you could get a much better price including breakfast. I will not use Hotwire again. The hotel was a bit away from where we wanted to be. The hallway to our room was decorated in a very wild manner. As you would walk the hall lights would come on which made you feel as if you were in a disco. The room had odd lights too. Next to the bed the nightstands lit up with the colors of the rainbow, even the closet rod had a light in it. Perhapse if you were into very modern art you would enjoy this type of environment.
We paid extra and got a 10th floor view which kept us above the noise of the city. The room was very clean and the air conditioning was quiet and perfect. The sinks in the bathroom were hard to use because of thier desing like a dental sink only larger.
The staff in the hotel were wonderful and very helpful.
Unique Quality: Perfect Air conditioning...no noise.....and great control......
If you have a room on the high floors you will be above the city's noise.
The staff were the best.
Up the street is El Corte Ingles which has a food store in the lower level to buy snacks and breakfast items.
Directions: 2 blocks away from Plaza de Espana
May 2005 was sold as 4 star hotel by travel agent - current listing as 3 star probaqbly more accurate! A bit old fashioned - lots of fake flowers and gold decor but still ok hotel v close to the Real Palace and some of the sights... bit of a trek to the Playa Mayor - but the tourist bus can sort that out for you ....
Did not eat at hotel - too many other places to do that in!
