I stayed here for two nights in February 2013.
The location was the key to choosing this place, as it is a good and central, just up the road from metro Sol and the Puerta del Sol.
Unique Quality: Nothing fancy, but the room was clean and tidy and the shower was decent enough.
Free internet access, including a laptop in your room.
Sorry but I didn't try out the breakfast. I would certainly use tis hotel again, for a short trip to Madrid.
This hotel had an excellent location near the Puerto del Sol. The rooms were not large, but fine if you were not planning on spending the day in your room. I would definately stay here again, if I was returning to Madrid. It was an excellent starting point for any walk through the city. It is located in the pedestrian zone, so know where you want to be dropped if you take a taxi to the hotel.
A peaceful hotel near the Puetro Del Sol (literally the centre of Spain as all distances are measured from there). The hotel stands in a side street which is pedestrianised. There is very good double glazing and the air conditioning is blessed in August! Good breakfasts, on the fifth floor, where they provide free internet access for those who have withdrawal symptoms from their daily dose of spam! Comfortable rooms. Occasional noise from fellow guests if they manage to stay out til 4 or 5 am but limited.
Unique Quality: A pleasing hotel to which I would quite happily return the next time I am in Madrid. It does extremely hot water in a highly technical shower system! Very good for getting to everywhere else by Metro. The presence of the hotel staff is hardly noticeable - yet the breakfast is good (hot and cold buffet) and the check in and out efficient.
Directions: From the Metro go up past the bear (the symbol of Madrid) and second turning left
Avoid the Hotel Gran Via - They do not have air-conditioning or any English TV channels and my camera bag was lifted from the hotel lobby!
I also stayed at the Petit Palace Londres: indeed excellent location and breakfast buffet! I stayed in a single room and it was really small though ;-(. But overall a good adress!
