Cheap hotel for budget trips

The service was ok, however facilities are old. There is an internet corner free to hotel guests, but the computer is running spanish windows...

Unique Quality: Good location, with Metro station right in front of the hotel. and you can also choose to walk to the city center, around 20 mins.

  • Opinion of Price: least expensive

Puerta de Toledo

Puerta de Toledo or Toledo's gate, is one of the important and at the same time beautiful gates of Madrid, it is the bridge point in fact between the downtown and the old city of Madrid!

Puerta de Toledo

by Frisbeeace

The Puerta de Toledo is located in La Latina district which still preserves the traditional look of the old part of Madrid. The archway was a project of King Jose Bonaparte and was built between 1817 and 1827.

Plazas y Puertas de Madrid

by HORSCHECK

Madrid has many interesting and beautiful plazas (e.g. Plaza Mayor, Plaza de Cibeles, Plaza de Castilla) and puertas (e.g. Puerta del Sol, Puerta de Toledo, Puerta de Alcala).
You can spend days with only visiting plazas and puertas of Madrid. The photo shows the Puerta de Toledo in the south of the city centre (Metro: Puerta de Toledo).

3 nights in madrid

by nvestrada

hi. from malaga arriving madrid noon of oct. 10, leaving for lisbon on oct. 13.staying at hotel puerta de toledo. is the hotel near the airport? what's the practical and safe transport to and from the airport? sorry for sounding so politically incorrect, but we're interested in witnessing bullfights aside from the art and cultural scene. what's the sked for these events? how do we get tickets? we would also like to catch some cultural or other entertaining spanish shows in the evening. any suggestions?

Hi there,

To get to your hotel from the airport you can either take a taxi, which would cost about 30 euros, or the metro. For the metro, you'd need to take line 8 to Nuevos Ministerios, then line 10 two stops to Alonso Martinez and finally line 5 to Puerta de Toledo. The metro's very simple and safe to use (see here for an up-to-date guide http://www.subwayhotels.com/blog/madrid/mastering-madrid-metro/ )

The last poster was quite accurate about bullfights and flamenco shows. For other shows, there are tons of theatres on Gran Via with Spanish shows and musicals, plus the Teatro Real for opera and ballet. Hope that helps!
