Trains

by nino224

Hi,

I need to get from Madrid to Santiago by train, if possible. I'd like to know how long that trip would take and how much it would cost. Any other tips are also greatly appreciated. Thanks.

For train, check: www.renfe.es, but consider the possibilty of going by plane: www.ryanair.com

Re: Trains

by puerto_lover

www.ryanair.com has flights and you should look at prices for the day you want to travel as they may be quite inexpensive. Look at the 'extras' as these are not totally clear when you start the process. But even after the extras you will find it works out competitive compared with train.

I looked up a train travel to Santaigao for a random date: Thursday 21 January and if booked on RENFE web site you can get a ticket at €20 or less. Even for 'Preferente' cost is €24.80 - so worth while to look at days of travel and compare and see if you can get an advanced Cheap Rail fare. Means you need to book and pay in advance using https://w1.renfe.es/vol/

You can't book too far ahead with RENFE and it seems that you need some good fortune to navigate through the site.

Happy New Year

Just seen:

Madrid-Santiago de Compostela with Ryanair, 21 January 2010: 16,04 € (you can get it even cheaper)

Visit Plaza Major.
A very nice square in real Spanish style, lively and feeling good to be there. You will find there many things: Pubs, Tapasbars, Flamengobars, etc. The tapas at the Plaza Major. They were so good, we made an evening meal out of it !

Museo del Jamon

by Veroali

Museo del Jamon (Museum of ham) is a shop, where you can buy a lot of types of meat, especially ham, dried meat and so on. I dont know even all these types of meat, but i tried one and it is delicious. For sure, it is a good experience to visit the museum, but be ready for the strong smell of the meat.

Getting tickets

by Ciaran27

We were a bit worried about not having tickets for Real Madrid but I had found a very useful website that told me everything I needed to know.

http://www.yrl.co.uk/~gonzalo/rm/estadio/guide.html

We ended up getting out hotel manager to book 11 tickets over the phone on the day of the game. We paid 40 euro and we couldn't have had better seats.

When we got to the stadium all we had to do was swipe the credit card and out popped our tickets. There were also tickets still available at the stadium if you wanted.

It really ON the beaten path, because this is a shop for shoes! They are funny and different, full of colour and different form. Here a lot of people wear ones called Pelotas becase the soil is made by little balls. CAMPER. PRECIADOS, 23. 91 5317897

HOUSE PARTIES

by parsix

Spanish people begin the night late. Usually we will meet at someones house for the "warm up"drinks, and then hit the road.

This time the story was the other way around. Too much party, we needed something more intimate. It was Raul, Tere's brother's B-day, perfect ocassion to stay indoors.
