Madrid to Bilbao

by suvanki

Hi, any help appreciated on this (I'm getting lots of out of date/closed websites etc)-Also I've not got the time at the moment to 'Research' this myself, so hoping someone can help me with my question, or sections of my trip.

I arrive in Madrid 25th July, and need to be in Bilbao by early afternoon of 26th - flights are quickest, but at moment are $194 o/w!
I understand bus is about 4 hours and train is around 6, and that the bus is cheaper.

I'm intending to travel from Bilbao to Seville (28th),then need to be in Benidorm (30th), Valladolid (1st Aug), Santiago de Compostela (2nd), then back to Madrid - fly home 4th August).

Is it possible to purchase a discount ticket for multi journeys on the bus/train. Are some of these journeys better by bus or train or no difference ie time/price/ distance from town centre.
I'm on a bit of a budget, but for some of these journeys, time and distance might be the deciding factor.

I'm very grateful for any input - (and I'll acknowledge your reply!).

Best Wishes,
Sue x

Travel Tips for Madrid

Prado 3.

by ger4444

The interest of the Prado lies in its royal collections. De hughe amount of foreign artpieces relects Spain's historical power over European countries especially over Belgium and Holland. the close relationship with Holalnd and Belgium let to the admiration of the pritive artists such as Campin and Van der Weyden, but most striking is the work by Bosch. Phillp 2 th. collected most of his work. some of his paintings to be seen are: Antonius' temptation, the haywagon and the Garden of Lust. Also we can see Brueghel, f.e. his Triumph of Death. And finally, the Prado exibits more than 100 canvasses by Rubens. His worship of the Wise is amongst his best ones. Garden of Lust by Bosch is amazing. You can scan all the details and get lsot in the bizar phantasies of the image.

by artonice about El Corte Ingles

I think Madrid people don't like big shopping Centers because there is only El Corte Ingles that I saw. There are a lot of and all kinds of everywhere . you can find food and drink , clothes, stationary , books etc. there.

We bought Spanish Wines (Wino Tinto) , and books for example :) We bought Spanish Wines (Wino Tinto) , and books for example :)

But you can find all kind of stuff. 4-5 Euros for wines..

A weekend in Kapital!

by Minority19 about Kapital

Thursday night in Kapital - don't do it!!! We arrived there about 2 o'clock and it was still so dead... whether we were too early, I don't know, but we left at 3. There was no-one on the dance floor at all! Went back reluctantly on friday night at about 3 oclock - what a difference :P It was a great night of dancing, although Spanish men seem to think that us English-speaking girls are incredibly easy since at least 4 guys pulled out something from their back pocket... a good slap was in order! We ended up going back on the Saturday night - and it was even better again.. we went to veldea for a bit of r 'n'b beforehand, so it was late enough getting in, but it was still packed. Be warned if you wear a skirt though girls, every once in a while, a gush of dry ice comes down from the ceiling on the main dance floor...great nightclub though! Smart... no different to Ireland.
