Madrid - Hotel
The hotel is a short walk to the Metro station, Banco de Espana and locates in the small and quiet street. The room is a little bit worn out and dark though. Buffet breakfast is very good.
Hotel Suecia is is a large hotel in a fabulous location (which is what visitors to Madrid always request) It is different from many city hotels in that there are two complete non-smoking floors (again -- what most of our clients request but in Spain a difficult thing to find). Rooms are uniquely decorated, some with terraces. The decorative style of the hotel is Swedish (Suecia means Swedish in Spanish). Extensive renovations were made in 2000 to this well-located hotel. The hotel opened in 1956 and Ernest Hemingway chose it as his home in the late 1950's because of its proximity to the most important art and cultural centres in the city. In the heart of the city, it is 12 km. to the airport and there is a bus stop and metro station within a minute's walk.
