A good way to cool off!
by laura4n8
We were hot and worn out and just needed something cool to help us out. We found a solution in a fountain! We were the only ones who thought of this idea. When we walked up to this fountain, two guys were just climbing out after a full-on swim! We just put our feet in ... and it sure felt good!
So Many Choices

Plaza Mayor by is one of the overpriced places you will probably visit while in Madrid. You are better off people watching and ordering una cafe. Your best bet is to find smaller restaurants or cafes away from the tourist traps that the locals usually visit. If you venture into any cafe always order Cervesa or Copa de Vino Blanco . You will always get small appetizers accompanied by your drink. Take a chance and try the local cuisne you might find something you like.
Bars and cafes

They say we have the highest rate of bars per habitants in all Europe!! (I think it's in all the world). In the city center you will find 3 or 4 bars in every block. Always full for breakfasts, tapas, a quick beer, bocadillos, another coffee...
Don't feel ashamed of throwing used tissues or olive bones to the floor, as it is a normal way of acting (and I don't feel very comfortable about that!). Anyway, they usually clean the floor quite often.

Serrano 41- awesome
by Lizchiq about Serrano41
This was our typical Thursday or Friday night spot when I studied abroad in Spain. As the local madrilenos say, it's "lleno de pijos" which means "full of snobs"...
The crowd was an under-30, hip, well-dressed and attractive crowd.
Make friends with the bouncers and never pay cover and get free drinks. See if Mario still works there. Typical "nice going out" attire should do the trick.
