    I stayed at the Hotel Tryp Gran Via.
    I actually got a wonderful deal over the internet at www.hotelsspain.com! Especially for New Years time.

    I thought the restaurant in it sucked and it was too expensive. Breakfast was great though. And the room was just like being in the United States. Excellent quality, perfect size, wonderful bathroom, quiet and peacful.

    This is a very centrally located 3-star hotel right on Gran Via, Madrid's major downtown boulevard. Accordingly, some of my colleagues bitterly complained about noise from the street... the traffic really never stops there. My room which was a specially adapted room for wheelchair users was okay, but I have seen other rooms which were very small and not really the kind of value you would expect for 106 EUR / night. The disabled bathroom had no roll-in shower. Breakfast was good. For all other meals you need to go out as there is no restaurant or bar in the hotel. This is not a problem as there's plenty of eateries around, but in the light of this, 106 EUR per night is even more out of balance.
