What is the area like around this station?
I found the area kind of boring. Much better to be closer in so you can fall out of your room and be in the buzz of Madrid. I would draw a line between the Prado, to the Palace, to Plaza Espana and then down back to the Prado. Anyplace in that quirkazoid puts you right in the middle Madrid stuff.... Karl

May I presume on your patience once again...... what is the area around the metro stop Pacifico like? From squinting at the metro map, it seems to have good links, without too many changes, to the main sights, etc. Specifically Calle Doctor Esquerdo? Madrid local I don't mind at all!

The most famous Museum in the 'Art Triangle' (Prado, Thyssen, Reina Sofia) of Madrid. Velazquez, El Greco and El Bosco are my favourites, but there are thousands more. 2 hours for a quick visit, a whole week for art lovers.

On the 15th May is the local Festivity of San Isidro. There are many celebrations around, specially on that day.
But on all that week and the previous, you will find many many concerts, exhibitions and so.

The 'Templo de Debod' was a gift of the Egyptian governement to the city of Madrid (about 1600 years old). It's not placed in the main touristic areas but if you have time visit it, it's really interesting and it's possible to visit it within.
There are many things to do at night in Madrid, strolling on Puerta del Sol and streets around, watch a play or musical on Gran Via o going to the disco for a dance or a for a drink.
Hay mogollón de cosas que hacer en Madrid por las noches, dar un paseo por los alrededores de la puerta del sol, ver una obra de teatro o un musical en la Gran Vía o ir a bailar y tomar algo en cualquier discoteca.
