Looking to find lost friend in Coruna, need advice

by AD331

Hi, im thinking of coming to A Coruna in order to look for a very close friend who i lost touch with since this person and there family moved to Coruna from the U.K. I know my friend was setting up a clothes store in the city centre, i just wanted to ask anyone who may currently live in Coruna if you think it would be possibile to find my friend if i where to come to Coruna for a few days. I know finding there home would be very difficult so there would be no point trying to do that. But I thought it may be more possible to find the shop my freind had opened in the city centre. Is the city centre very big? would it be possible to find my friend in such a way?
Hopefully someone can help me or give some advice as i'd really appreceate it. Thankyou.

I'm not familiar with A Coruña, but I'd think it will be easier to try first if you can find his/her phone number or mail address:

Serach for your friends's surname here:

http://engblancas.paginasamarillas.es/jsp/home.jsp?src=spa

Just wandering around the city centre... even not huge, I'd guess it will take you many hours/days. And... if you don't even know the name of the shop, what are you planning, just peek/ask at every chothes' store you find?

The yellow pages returns a list of 541 shops when searching for "clothing and accessories" in A Coruña. Bear in mind some small business may not appear on this list

http://www.paginasamarillas.es/resultados.asp?activ=Moda+y+complemento+establecimiento&prov=LA+CORU%D1A&loca=a+corua&pgpv=1&mode=listadir

But you can try to narrow this list and contact some of these places beforehand, at least you can narrow your search

Good luck!

I agree you should do some research first otherwise the journey might be in vain. I have found missing friends by searching on the country's own google (eg in this case Google.es) particularly if she runs a business in Spain. If you want to divulge her name then I have family in A Coruña and if she has been there a long time then maybe they know of her or I could do a search.

Good luck.

It looks as AD331 never bothered on login again to acknowledge the replies.... it would have been nice, but sadly is not the only one who asks and never came back.

Ever the optimist: perhaps they posted on several forums and forgot which ones. Just in case, I have sent an email reminder!

There are many places you can try...many u have to pay for..i skip those.
But thr googling, facebook, orkut and myspace for your friends name

I just create a "Lost Friend Posting/Profile" at www.lost-friends-found.com

It is FREE, and the concept they have is simple it should work in time. Am hopeful

Travel Tips for Coruña

An Italian of high hopes

by gordonilla about Ginos

Located in the Commercial centre in the Port area - I had high hopes for the food. It seems that this part of a larger group of eateries. It is quite expensive and not really good value for money. The portions may be small, but some of the items on the menu are good to eat.

I tried to order a mixed salad but was told no! It was not on the menu!! try the meat escallopes

Go to the Cathedral and visit...

by p20

Go to the Cathedral and visit it. Each column is different.
See the 'Botafumeiro' and the 'tiraboleiros' (the guys that 'move' the Botafumeiro).
The 'Portico de la Gloria' (Glory portico).
The 'Santo dos Croques' (can't translate that).
Every chapel. There's one dedicated especially to foreign people).
The 4 fachades.
The Puerta Santa (Sacred Door).
It's magnificence.
And much more things.
The Sacred Door is open only when the 25th of July is Sunday (that year only). And you can gain the Xubileo (religious pardon of all your mortal sins) if you confess, receive communion and pray (not sure about this).
