Costa Vella: Costa Vella at Santiago de Compostela

by Aitana

The hotel is in the historical center of Santiago de Compostela. It has a nice garden, limited by the medieval walls of the city.
There are two living rooms, one of them with a library that contains books about Galicia and Santiago. Very useful when the rains makes difficult to walk around the city, they offer nice views of San Francisco church.
The breakfast is very good: orange juice, coffe, toasts, croissants, tetilla cheese, honey, butter, marmelade, olive oil... whatever you want.
The monumental area of Santiago is at walking distance from the hotel.

Dugium: A charming rural hotel near Finis Terrae

by Aitana

This rural hotel is quite near Finisterre (Fisterra), at the Costa de la Muerte.
The hotel occupies an old stone house. It is in a very quiet area, surrounded by a plant nursery and farms.
There is a cozy living room with a library. From there, the garden is acceded. The arcade is a perfect place to sit and read.
The staff is very pleasant. Ernesto prepared for us a thorough plan to visit the Costa de la Muerte, providing all kind of information.
The breakfast, included in the fare, is very complete and there are several kinds of bakery.

O Castro: Hotel O Castro at O Grove

by Aitana

This hotel is in the peninsula of O Grove, at Reboredo, near San Vicente.
There are some beaches nearby. If you are lucky and have a room to the sea, you will enjoy the view of the ocean and the mouth of the Ria, the houses and orchards around, and magnificent sunsets.
A very complete and varied breakfast is included.

Casa Rectoral de Areas: Rural hotel at Tui

by Aitana

The hotel is in a small village near Tui. It was the parish priest's house and the parish of Areas is beside the hotel.
The place is quiet, surrounded by orchards. There are 8 rooms with bathroom. Ours was quite wide. The kitchen is at guests’ disposal and there are two living rooms.

La Perla: Good place in Ortigueira

by bijo69

La Perla is a great budget place to stay in Ortigueira. The rooms are of decent size and come with a tv and a clean and modern and clean bathrooms.
Downstairs you'll have a bar/café which serves breakfast and simple meals.
The lady who runs the place speaks good English and is very helpful.

Linares: Nice pension in Ribadeo

by bijo69

Linares is a nice pension right in the centre of Ribadeo. Rooms are not very big, but very comfy and modern. All rooms are ensuite and have aircon and tv.
A busy café is part of the pension which has good breakfast and quick service.
Communicating is a bit difficult though if you don't speak Spanish.

Albergue Fisterra: shelter in Finisterre

by jorgejuansanchez

Like all the shelters in Galicia, this one belongs to the Xunta de Galicia (local Government). It is at 3 kilometres from the lighthouse where ther is the tradition to burn your old clothes and put new ones at the end of the Camino de Santiago, as a sign of purification.
In the shelter they will issue you the certificate La Fisterra for having finished the pilgrimage on foot (It starts in Santiago and finish in Fisterra, in the Atlantic Ocean.

Santiago de Olveiroa: shelter in Olveiroa

by jorgejuansanchez

This is, in my opinion, one of the five or six best shelters in the whole Camino de Santiago.
You will sleep in a really rustic village with several houses made on stone. The hospitalera (woman in charge) will serve you a good Galician dinner with Alvarinho wine for free!
You can buy fresh milk to the peasants living in the village.

Albergue de Negreira: shelter in Negreira

by jorgejuansanchez

New and nice building at 600 metres out of Negreira in direction to Finisterre, or Fisterra (this shelter is for pilgrims going to the Atlantic Ocean).
The only problem is that the hospitalero, a lady, is almost never there and you have to go to her house for the key.
Rooms are on the second floor.
On the first floor you have the showers, machines selling drinks, and internet for free!

as above

Albergue de Arzúa: shelter in Arzua

by jorgejuansanchez

Magnificent shelter constructed entirely with stone next door to the church Capilla de la Magdalena. It has two floors and excellent showers.
Do not miss the cheese from Arzua, t is delicious!
Be careful, they close the doors of the shelter at 9 PM!
At 8 PM I went out to buy cheese and arrived to the shelter at 9 PM and 5 minutes and it was already closed and all the pilgrims sleeping. I had to enter through the toilet window!
