View from our Balcony by LoriPori Hans and I absolutely loved the SOL PRINCIPITO. The hotel staff were friendly, always smiling and very helpful when we needed some information. The hotel was always buzzing with activity as there was so much to do there. The service was impeccable. The complex consisted of 170 apartments, where we were and the main hotel. There was 2 outdoor swimming pools and an indoor heated pool, 2 coffee shops, disco, T.V. room, card room, tennis court and entertainment lounge where there was nightly entertainment.
Our cozy little apartment consisted of a balcony overlooking one of the two outdoor swimming pools, kitchenette , refrigerator, 2 electric burners , microwave and all the utensils needed to make your own meals. It had a double bed and the closets had plenty of space to put your things. Also there was a small eating and sitting area with T.V. Calahona "Strip" by LoriPori Situated on the Costa del Sol in the urbanisation Sitio de Calahonda, 1200 metres away from the beach and close to the coastal highway. Between the resort and the beach there is "the strip' with plenty of shops, restaurants and bars. We walked "the strip" twice a day and the grocery store was just a short distance. The nearest beach is Riviera. Hans and I never actually went to this beach as it was a long walk and was on the other side of the highway, but there are also other beaches all along the coast, our favourite being the beach in Torremolinos. Parador, Artiés, Spain by Lady_Mystique The snow capped peaks of the Pyrenees, the clear blue skies and the green luxuriant valley of Val d'Aran is the setting for this Parador. The site is that of the House of D. Gaspar de Portola whose claim to fame is the discoverer of California. The design has a steeply sloping roof so that a heavy weight of snow cannot accumulate. This results in the bedrooms having 'dormer' windows looking out onto the roof. The traditional mountain design is continued in the wooden beams being featured in the bedrooms. The lounges in the hotel are spacious and tastefully decorated...the Salon Chimenea particularly stands out. This Parador has a total of 58 rooms all with satellite TV, telephone and air conditioning. There is also a bar for residents. The Parador has conference facilities for up to 295 persons. The hotel has a swimming pool, sauna and gymnasium. Theme: HotelPrice: US$120-180 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Parador D. Photos: 1. Monasterio De Piedra 2. Long hallways inside hotel 3. Allan in preserve with cascades 4. Dee in preserve beside waterfall On Friday, March 12, 1999. we left Barcelona and headed to Nuevalos to reach the famed nature preserve and the hotel where we would stay that night. This was not just any hotel; it was a former Cistercian monaster. Thus, the hotel is massive; it is called Monasterio de Piedra. We loved all the architectural styles of Mudejar, Romanesque, Renaissance, Gothic, and Baroque. Our room was quite large with a balcony that overlooked gardens. It was clean, rather plain, and, oh so comfortable. Except, because of its size [even the halls are enormous], it was rather cool. It is famous for its wonderful restaurant where we ate that evening. It has 61 rooms, private parking, a swimming pool, gardens, and terraces. All rooms have private baths. It also had a bar which we visited before our dinner. Also before dinner, we took an hour guided tour of the monastery and winery, which was educational, interesting, and quite informative.
What is so wonderful about Monasterio de Piedra is its location right in the nature preserve. That afternoon, we took a two hour walk in the park. It's an island of green with a thick river-side woods, caves, waterfalls, ponds, cascades, grottos, and mountains in the distance! A small warning: you have to be in pretty good shape because of the steep climbs. I lost my sweater and backtracked..one of the climbs was 180 steps up and then back down. I highly recommend Monasterio de Piedra, its restaurant, and the nature preserve. by Hosell Another very good idea, when you are visiting Spain,it is stay in a Casa Rural.Right now there are thousands of nice places to stay along all the country.Normally they are always located in small villages, and in places where you can find nature around. The prices are very reasonable and they are cheaper than hotels.
This is a picture of Casa del Aguila,a nice Casa Rural, located in Albacete province.
