Cofradía del Santo: shelter in Santo Domingo de la Calzada

by jorgejuansanchez

This is a magical shelter. It is located in the same house where lived the Saint Domingo de la Calzada, who performed many miracles and helped the pilgrims to Santiago constructing bridges along the rivers and paths (calzada means path in Spanish).
The shelter is always open. First you have to meet on the ground floor the Prior of the Cofradia (Brotherhood) to show the Credencial del Peregrino to sleep there for free (It is custom to leave a donation).
The dormitory is on the first floor, dormitory like, very pleasant, and with a huge kitchen where you can cook your dinner and make friendship with other pilgrims.
Do not miss the church, just next door.

Albergue de Logroño: shelter in Logroño

by jorgejuansanchez

This shelter is ruled by the Asociación Riojana de Amigos del Camino de Santiago. The low price to spend the night is symbolic, and the conditions very good, with terrace, tables and fountains.
It is located in the same historical center of Logroño, the capital of La Rioja autonomy (La Rioja produces the best wine in Spain).
Before reaching the shelter, an old woman will give you figs.
When leaving the shelter you will pass through a gigantic Juego de la Oca (Spanish table game meaning Goose Game, related with the Camino de Santiago), a beautiful statue of Saint James, and many other monuments associated with the Camino.

Sancho III: shelter in Najera

by jorgejuansanchez

People in this shelter are very nice. If you are very tired of the Camino they will let you stay for a second night.
You can have a cheap dinner in the restaurant La Judería.
You should not leave Najera without visiting the lovely Santa Maria la Real, just next door to the shelter (Pilgrims pay half price for the ticket!), besides a huge mountain. Inside you will see magnificent tombs of out Spanish Kings and the choir of the Church, among many other
wonders.

MARQUES DE VALLEJO: LOGRO?O'S BEST HOTEL

by btrz

A beautiful hotel situated in the very centre of the city.

It is housed in a 19c building beautifully redecorated. Situated in a convenient area quite close to Calle Laurel (it a must) and night life pubs, and part of the historic legacy of the city.
Whithin a walking distance to all the cultural spots and monuments.

Paradors: If you have money, try a Parador

by timtregenza

If you have money, stay in a Parador www.parador.es - the site is also in English).

These state owned hotels, located in historic buildings (all along the camino) are definitely worth a stop. Try the one in Santo Domingo.
