This is the local speciality of Murcia. When I saw it, I thought it was some kind of apple pastry, but surprise, surprise it wasn't. It was filled with delicious meat, tomato and egg. Very good, give it a try.

American Express in Murica?
I am visiting Murcia very soon and wanted to know if any of the stores , or even the any of the region, takes american express? Thanks!

American Express is not as widely accepted as it is in the USA or Canada, so, I'd come with a Visa card too.

That is good advice for the whole of Europe, not just Spain.
Visa and Mastercard are the most widely accepted. Whilst there are places which accept Amex it would be a pity to miss out on something simply because Amex is not accepted in that particular place.
An additional card is a useful emergency standby as well.

Yes, AmEx is not happyly accepted anywhere in Europe, being Murcia no exception
I have both an AmEx and a Visa card. I was to cancel my AmEx because I can't use it in most places, included some that are supposed to (like when shopping at Carrefour, the machine always refuses the AmEx card, despite AmEx says they accept it).
I get my annual fee back when I said I wanted to cancel it... next year I will cancel the card unless they do it again. I basically only can use it for booking trips/hotels, nearly never in shops.
By the way, many small shops will refuse *any* card for small purchases (let's say less than 10€)

Yes, that's a good point Isa.
Many shops in Europe, including the UK, won't accept cards for small amounts because of the fees they have to pay. Some do not accept cards even for larger amounts....one cannot assume that all shops/restaurants will accept any cards, let alone all. So having some currency to hand is essential.
You should make sure your card provider knows you will be abroad, to reduce the possibility of your card being stopped on suspicion of fraud.
