The apartments are student apartments for the rest of the year which means that you get one room with a kitchenette. This has a cooker, fridge, freezer, coffee perculator or kettle and basic washing-up things. There are also a couple of (small-ish) pots and pans and crockery for 3-4 persons depending on apartment. Some apartments can be joined if you are a big family. There is of course also a table area as well as comfy, if somewhat narrow, beds and a TV with quite a few international channels too. The bathrooms have showers. Volontärgatan is in a quiet area east of the city centre with a 10-15 minute walk to the Österport city gate along residential quarters by the Roma road. We were afraid it would feel like a long walk but we often biked home and even when we walked it was only a few blocks. There are also terraces or balkonies with each apartment so you can buy a cheap grill if the evening is nice. Along the street is a free parking lot. I think the only complaint I have is that you had to do your shopping in the city and for us without a car it meant carry it home as there was no supermarket in the immediate area, but this was a minor inconvenience and the Konsum supermarket at Östervägen is open until 21.00 all days.
We hardly used our terrace as we were out all day, but it looked nice the way our neighbours had a barbecue when we returned. Bicycle racks outside the window meant we always knew where our rental bikes were.

Ljugarn in eastern Gotland is a very nice little town located on the coast with many nice beaches and good opportunities to see a "Rauk". "Ljugarns badpensionat" with 22 rooms is one of the accomodation possibilities there. Theme: HotelAddress: Take road 143 from Visby to Ljugarn or bus 13.

Snäckgårdsbaden is a resort just 3 km north of Visby is especially very popular among young people. Close to the sea and the beach, lots of activities and a shuttle bus to central Visby. Convinient location as it is close to the airport but no aircrafts should pass near the hotel. Theme: HotelDirections: Drive north from Visby and follow the signs for Snäck and the airport.

Sudersand located on the island Fårö north of the main island is a resort for holidaymakers. Nice beaches, hotel, camping, many restaurants and shops and entertainment and pub activities some nights. Also daily buses from Visby to Fårö and Sudersand.

We went there in August 2006 but my memory is still very alive about it. First of all, the booking was a real adventure. They sent home a contract. I wonder you mainataine the web-site (if you can call it web-site). We arrived at 8 pm on the day in which their restaurant closes. Nobody answered the bell so we had to call them by phone.
The double room is really very very small, you don't have space for luggage and wardrobe is too small as well. The shared bathroom was ok. Breakfast was ok but nothing special. People were friendly but the English was too poor to get in touch better. Moreover, they did not accept payment with a Visa credit card issued by a foreign bank. But the main issue was that, to get to Gotland mainland, you have to take a ferry. there is one every 30 minutes and sometimes there is a long waiting. Besides this, it's really far from Visby. If you want to visit Gotland, the best accomodation location is Visby.
