"Vaxjo"
Despite being from Sweden, I have seen very little of my home land. So on this trip I wanted to visit new regions in addition to Stockholm and Gotenburg where I have lived.
The first place I visited was Vaxjo, in the Smaland region. The region is well know for its deep forests and many lakes. It also hosts some 16 glass blowing factories including the world famous Orrefors, and Kosta Boda. At each factory you can watch glass being blown, and shop in the facory store at heavy discounts.
The city center is compact and centred around a main square and series of pedestrian shopping streets. There is a great museum about the emigration exodus from Sweden to the US between 1850-1920. 20% of the population emigrated during that time. Most of them did not speak any English. Once they arrived at Ellis Island they went on to Minnesota, Kansas, and Washington state. Here they were able to use their farming and forestry experience while learning the language. The weather and topography is also similar to Sweden
I golfed at Emmaboda Golf Club, which I can strongly recommend. Vijay Singh is actually a member there. The golf courses are so natural and leave the nature around it undisturbed. It's one of the top 5 courses I have ever played.
"Halmstad"
Halmstad is located on the west coast of Sweden, and is famous for its dunes and beaches. Tylosand is located 10 minutes outside the city center and offer some of the best beaches in Sweden. The city itself hosts lots of restaurants, bars, and cafees. Most of them have outdoor seating in the season. The city is typical of a Swedish city with pedestrian shopping streets around a main square.
If you are a golfer, you must not miss Halmstad Golf Club North course. They host an LPGA tournament here every year, and the womens Solheim Cup will be hosted here. The course is easy to walk, incredible beautiful, and difficult.

Need a 2 week rental near/on beach in Tylosand
by threehearts
We plan to go to Sweden for the last 2 weeks in July and base our family of 4 in a beach house rental, hopefully in Tylosand. We lived in Gamla Stan for several years and have been in the US for many but it is now time to see my husband's family for a longer time. The whole family is based in Halmstad and we thought Tylosand would be nice for visitors to us and convenient to Halmstad. We have a generous budget but have no idea what a 2 bedroom or more would rent for(or who to contact). Any help would be wonderful. Tack sa mycket! Threehearts
