Travel Tips for Hultsfred
Hultsfred Rock Festival
by Sjalen
The most famous rock festival in Sweden started 1986. Just as in Glastonbury or Roskilde, you find a place to pitch your tent and then you leave it, not to return until you're covered in mud and full of enthusiasm after some great gigs :-))) For those who just enjoy good music and aren't that interested in nightlife, there is now a camping area a bit further away from the main mayhem.
It's a great festival and I will always remember it as the place where I saw my beloved Men They Couldn't Hang :-) Other bands seen here through the years are Radiohead, Marilyn Manson, Midnight Oil, Suede and many others, along with Morrisey, Bjýrk, Iggy Pop...

Indian Motocycle Company
by Sjalen
This huge company was founded by a Swede even though Mr Hedström left Sweden for the US as a nine-year-old. If you want to see where his inspiration came from, Grindsbo outside little Lönneberga is where you should go.
Rock and regiments
by Sjalen
One of few pages where I have no photos of my own, as Hultsfred is a place I have gone through an incredible amount of times when I lived nearby, but never stopped much, and when I have finally stopped for more than a change of trains, it has been spur-of-the-moment excursions with relatives living nearby and without a camera.
The only planned visit to Hultsfred has been to go to the famous Rock Festival - probably the most famous one in Sweden. It has also done a lot to put Hultsfred on the map and added a certain "momentum" to the town council which now is full of other ideas.
Hultsfred grew up along the railway which was probably only drawn along here because of the regiment. Today it is a quiet (apart from during the festival) small town with little to see but with great scenery around it. Lakes and forests where you expect any forest creature to appear, and nice streams to fish in.
