Air Force Fighters
by Psife
In Linköping lies Saab Aerospace, the Swedish company that has produced fighters like The Flying Barrel, Draken, Viggen and the new 4th generation fighter Gripen.
From Linköpings airfield (the same airfield as the airport uses) Saab does test flights at an almost daily basis. Therefor don't be surprised if you hear the roar of an afterburner engine and a sleek fighter screams past above you.
The Chapel of St Mary in Linkoping Cathedral
by Diana75
It should not actually be considered an "off the beaten path" attraction of the cathedral, but one of the most important ones.
Still, if you are not well informed about what you can see in the cathedral you may lose this particularly beautiful work of art.
The Maria window is one of the main engraved works of art and is revealing Maria in a unique floral glory.
The chapel is used for family ceremonies such as christening.
Gamla Linköping is a must see....
by sarasue
Gamla Linköping is a must see. It is great fun to walk through the town and see the old styles of the houses, and see the pictures of what Linköping once looked like.
Be sure to take the time to walk through the different gardens, take a ice cream or buy fresh candy from one of the vendors.

El Sueco Linköping Page

The Linköping Cathedral is visible from very long distance as it rises 107 m.
The cathedral is the most expensive of the Swedish churches from medevial time and was an evidence of the richness and power of the bishop in Linköping (he had dominion over Östergötland, Gotland, Öland and greater part of Småland).
The work was started with German builders who worked in roman style. Later came men from England which gave the Early English style that can bee seen in the west part.
Renovation work has being done outside as well as inside the church. As you can see it is hard to get sight of the church when coming closer.
State of the nave (November 2003), before the renovation work was completed.
