Go "tura" across the strait
by Sjalen
Don't miss the opportunity to do what the locals do and go for a trip across to Denmark. Those who are real regulars call it "tura" which means "to tour" (that was tricky!) and they never even go ashore in Denmark but just sit on the ferry and have dinner in the restaurant whilst making quite a few crossings before dessert! Most people however do get off and go shopping in Helsingör - in fact, so many that a whole alcohol business has grown up there just like in Calais. The most fascinating thing about the cheap day out is to see how narrow the strait really is. There's Denmark in no time at all.
CERAMICS......
by eden_teuling
One of my hobbies is going to my CERAMICS ATELIER and so I am interested in what other ceramists do....
There is a fine STENKäRLSFABRIK here in Helsingborg (address see below) where people were working very hard and obviously with much pleasure...
I left the place with a sweet little KRUKAN FRåN RAUS as a souvenir, one of the many.....
Kärnan
by eva_oberg
Helsingborg's most famous landmark, has been watching over the town for more than 600 years. Originally, Kärnan was surrounded by thick brick wealls, but after the Danish-Swedish war in the end of the 17th century, the walls were torned down. Today, only the 35 metres high tower remains and it is well worth a visit, even if you have to walk quite some stars to get there. The view is spectacular!
St Mary's Church
by elcolibri
The Saint Mary's Church is a beautiful sample of Danish Gothic, the building was finished in the 15th century. This Church survived after the Skane War. I cant take a good picture of the three knave basilica but I can offer a pic of youngs besides it.
Town Hall
by Sjalen
Helsingborg Town Hall is one of the most magnificent Town Halls in Sweden and easily recognisable. It can be visited at certain times but check at the tourist office for exact times if you are interested in architecture. You can also listen to the carillion several times a day.
