I don't know: Very nice house

by Tuna_ank

When we were searching hotel at Skane area we just found some expensive places, we decided to go until Helsingborg but fortunately we saw a sign for hotel on the road. We followed signs and reached to very cute house. Owners were very nice people but unfortunately I don't have their names and numbers. I can just give that address. If you go there please inform me. And say hello from us.

Close to the sea, nice garden, nice kitchen with full equipment, 2 rooms with 4 beds, big saloon.

Brantevik Råkulle Vandrarhem: Converted farm hostel

by Sjalen

Again, one of the best hostels I've stayed in. For a start, it hasn't been up and running that many years so all is very nice and clean. Secondly, the owner family have had this typical Scanian farm in the family since it was built generations ago, so they care enormously about it. The husband runs a furniture shop and is a bit of an artist which also helps. It is the missus who runs the hostel and she first became inspired to run a hostel when she toured Britain as single so there is a lot of motivation :) Today, the farm has no animals, the last horses moved out in the early 90s, but the land belonging to the farm is still owned and worked by the family. The hostel is smack bang in the middle of the lovely fishing village Brantevik. It is an STF associated hostel which means check-in a couple of hours in the morning and afternoon only, but since the owners live next door, they are happy to let you in at other times too as long as you give them a ring in advance.

Scandic St. Jörgen: Hotel with direct access to H & M ;-)

by Typ88

In Malmö, I stayed in the Scandic St. Jörgen Hotel. This is an upper class hotel with a very familiar atmosphere. The wooden floors and the lucky bamboos in the rooms give them a very special atmosphere. The bright wood looks very modern and stylish.

St. Jörgen is situated directly in the city center of Malmö. Some rooms even have got view on the pedestrian precinct. If you step out the door, there's an H&M shop and a huge shopping mall right across the street. If you stay in this hotel, you definetly do not need to take any busses or taxis. It is situated perfectly!!

Smygehuk vandrarhem: Lighthouse hostel

by Sjalen

It's too close to home for me to have stayed in, but it is well known for its location and its little library. You stay in the lighthouse keepers' cheerful house (the lighthouse is now automated) and from here, it is close to Sweden's southernmost point and the summery restaurants (and fish smokery) in the nearby Smygehamn village harbour. See my Smygehamn page for more information.

Lighthouse next door, easy to reach from the ferry terminals at Ystad and Trelleborg...

Grand Hotel Mölle: Famous seaside gem

by Sjalen

I have never stayed the night, only had a coffee on the seaside veranda, but many newlyweds have as it is famous for its wedding receptions. This is of course due to its romantic location on the hillside in central Mölle, overlooking the Öresund Strait. Not as expensive (or posh) as you would think for being a classy Swedish hotel. Maybe as it is not quite as swanky as in its heydays when Mölle was the playground for Europe's decadent swimmers (see Mölle page).

Kiviks vandrarhem: Seaside hostel

by Sjalen

Of all the hostels I have stayed in, this belongs to the favourites (there are two hostels in Kivik but this is the seaside one open almost all year). The usual bunk beds in many rooms but as we had a family room we had a double bed and a nice sofa. The room also had wooden beams and a seaview. Our upstairs lounge had toys for the children to play with and was cosy in general. They also offer good deals from the hostel to various sights with Kivik Taxi, which is great if you haven't come by car.

You only need to cross the road and you're on Kiviks little beach, where the hostel also has a sauna you can book.

Röstånga hostel: Beutiful house - great location

by Sjalen

Look at this beautiful house. For a full description, see my Röstånga page but the place is furnished in a most fitting style too and has a great location in Röstånga which gives you easy access to both Helsingborg/Kulla Peninsula and down to Lund if you want to make daytrips around Skåne. It also has Söderåsen National Park just around its back garden! You also have a famous inn and another nice restaurant down the road in this village, for when you cannot be bothered to cook or just want a beer :-)
