Brantevik Råkulle Vandrarhem: Converted farm hostel
by Sjalen
Again, one of the best hostels I've stayed in. For a start, it hasn't been up and running that many years so all is very nice and clean. Secondly, the owner family have had this typical Scanian farm in the family since it was built generations ago, so they care enormously about it. The husband runs a furniture shop and is a bit of an artist which also helps. It is the missus who runs the hostel and she first became inspired to run a hostel when she toured Britain as single so there is a lot of motivation :) Today, the farm has no animals, the last horses moved out in the early 90s, but the land belonging to the farm is still owned and worked by the family. The hostel is smack bang in the middle of the lovely fishing village Brantevik. It is an STF associated hostel which means check-in a couple of hours in the morning and afternoon only, but since the owners live next door, they are happy to let you in at other times too as long as you give them a ring in advance.
