Good hotel in the city center
I was in Malmö for a football game and needed a good hotel close to the stadium. There was Ibis Hotel which was even closer, but I chose to go with Teaterhotellet as it looked nicer.
Got a superior room for a pretty good rate and checked in late after the game.
The room was pretty huge, with two single beds stuck together. Nice beds, easy to sleep, and silent outside. There was also a working desk and a quite big flat screen tv with both swedish movie and sport channels, plus the usual swedish and danish state channels.
Wifi was included in the price, but I never got it to work. Didn't bother to check with the reception though as I used the mobile instead. But maybe they could have helped me out.
The bathroom was nice, although had a quite strange smell. Didn't stop me from using the bath tub late in the night though, as the cold Malmö night really had me freezing. Felt like a new man afterwards.
So new that I missed breakfast in the morning, but the buffé looked good although nothing special.
Arrived late in the evening and asked if there was something to eat. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant, but serve sandwiches and meat pies. 55 SEK for a meat pie sounded like a good offer, but was just a small piece of dry pie that the receptionist warmed up in the micro wave. The micro didn't move around either, so one part of the pie was really hot, while the other side was still cold... So stick with the sandwiches instead.
The hotel has a parking garage greatly placed right outside. 145 SEK per night though, which is pretty expensive if you ask me. Make sure to book the parking though, as there are just eight spots for the hotel guests. Avoid to arrive in a huge car too, as the garage is very small.
Teaterhotellet is good for its central location. But it's not a place to stay at for a longer time.
