Overpriced noisy hotel with little service!
My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Continental for four days in July 2009 and found it to overpriced (1695 SEK a night for bed and breakfast). No coffee making facilities nor minibar facilities dispite the room claiming to be Superior de-luxe. The hotel evening dining room and bar were closed for the summer. We were aware, from the hotel website, that meals were only available Monday to Thursday evenings. We were not advised when we booked the dining room/bar was closed . There is no lounge, just a couple of sofas in reception. The hotel advertises wi-fi in all rooms. It does not indicate there is a 100 SEK charge per night for using it!
The main problem is noise. The hotel is built alongside a busy main road and a railway line with frequent trains from 05:00 to 00:25 every day. The hotel does not have air-conditioning so in the Swedish summer it is necessary to TRY to sleep with the window open.
The hotel supplied an 'acceptable' breakfast buffet. However fish and sweet breads were missing.
The hotel 'might' be OK in the winter but we would not recommend it for a summer stay.
Unique Quality: Very convenient for the town railway station. Easily walkable with suitcases.
