hotel near Dalarø
by kariirene
wonder what hotel is closest to Dalarø?
Re: hotel near Dalarø
by Crazywoman
I never been there and I am not sure who would be the better, but a quick search on google gives these two hotels in Dalarö. One of them is only in Swedish, but your name and the "ø" in your question indicates that you will understand anyway.

One of them has quite a bad reputation on hotel review sites but I have forgotten which one.
If your budget is no issue, there is also this mansion: http://www.sjonaramoten.se/smadalaro/om-smadalaro
Travel Tips for Stockholm
Free concerts in Kungsträdgården
by vec
It's quite often some free concert in Kungsträdgården. On tuesdays during the summer the local radio station P5 use to have live broadcast with some current well known Swedish artist. Other radio stations also use to have big festivals with a lot of different artists, both local and international. And the best... everything is free.

When to travel
by tini58de
Well, this is a question that has no correct answer, since each and every season has its own charm.
I would just like to give you some pros and cons that you might want to take into consideration when planning a trip in early May:
.
.
.
pros:
- cheaper fares (airlines etc.)
- lots of vacancies in hotels and hostels
- less crowded
cons:
- some venues only open during the summer
- it might still be a little chilly (but we did have rather nice weather, so this is a "maybe")
- the vegetation was still rather "wintery" - 4 weeks later everything would have been blooming

Put on a pair of good shoes...
by Fiffi
Put on a pair of good shoes and walk around the city: Old Town (don't miss a guided tour), Söder (known to be the bohemian and artistic island), Djurgården (here you can walk for hours and Stockholmers do every weekend), Kungsholmen (mixed but getting more 'hip' every day, this is where I live by the way), Östermalm (the home of the bourgeoisie, upper class but with beautiful buildings), Vasa- & Birkastan (home for young-yppies-that-just-became-parents kind of place, lots of nice cafés) and of course City (which you can't avoid).
Don't get a parking ticket
by vec
It can be expensive to get a parking ticket in Stockholm, the meter maids (lapplisor) are quite good on finding cars parked on the wrong place.
If a sign say something Parkering Förbjuden or Tillstånd Erfordras it means that you are not supposed to park your car there.
But the car on this picture, I wonder how many parking tickets it have got? :)
